This week's new-to-me recipe from the Gooseberry Patch "Recipes for Comfort" cookbook is "Creamed Dried Beef".
I've had Creamed Dried Beef before but this was my first time making it.
I served it over toast and it was so good!
1/4 lb dried beef
4 T. butter
3 T. all-purpose flour
1 cup hot milk
1 cup light cream
1/4 tsp pepper
Separate the dried beef slices, set aside. (I cut mine up into pieces)
In a medium saucepan melt butter then sprinkle in flour. Stir mixture until well blended.
Add milk and continue to cook over low heat, stirring frequently.
Slowly blend in cream, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and is smooth.
Add pepper and dried beef; stir and continue to heat until warmed throughout.
Makes 4 servings.
Enjoy!

That's on our menu for this week also. Haven't had it in a while so today's the day.
ReplyDeleteI love Goosberry Patch books and have several of them. My husband has Celiac so I thicken with potato starch and it works quite well.
Having the Creamed Dried Beef over potatoes looks yummy! I'll have to try it :)
