Book Description:

There is nothing more exciting than when your best friend gets married. And for Elsie McKenna, it seems like she's got the maid of honor thing figured out. But as the big day date gets closer and wedding planning takes over, Elsie's friendship with the bride-to-be, Res, begins to go downhill. To make matters worse, Elsie's boyfriend, the long-suffering Jonah, becomes increasingly distant. It's not too soon before Elsie begins to wonder if there's something in the air in Phoenix, or if it's just a nasty case of wedding fever.

My Overall Feeling of the Book:

I found it really hard to connect with Elsie.  She is such a difficult character to understand and sometimes to even like.

I don't think I would have rated this book as high as I did except for the fact that I really enjoyed the events that lead up to the surprising ending.

Main Characters:

Elsie McKenna:  Maid of Honor and ex-bride-to-be.  She thinks every relationship will turn out the way hers did.  I found her very heavy handed and demeaning to her "best friend."  She does come around, though.

Res Mba:  Bride-to-be.  She doesn't want to see her fiance for the slob that he is.  She is easily taken advantage of.  I love her spunk near the end.

Jonah:  I don't even know his last name.  I felt that Elsie was majorly stringing him along.  Again, surprise ending!

My Favorite Scene:

I enjoyed the interaction and conversations between Elsie and her co-workers.  In fact, that is where I actually saw her being herself.

A Brief Excerpt:
"Wait, why haven't you mentioned this before?"  Res stopped helping Elsie fold the clothes and was now looking at her with a little furrow in her brow.  "I feel like I don't know you sometimes," Res continued, pulling more clothes to her.  "I tell you everything and I thought I knew everything about you and Jonah."

The Cover:

I'm not really wild about the cover.  It is fairly "ho-hum".

Other Notes:

-This is most definitely a mainstream book and has adult language, situations and topics.

-There is drinking, partying, and a very crude scene in an "adult store."
