Christmas is fast approaching for millions of people...

1. Do you have a favorite Christmas carol and if so is there a particular version you especially like?

My favorite traditional Christmas carol is "O Holy Night", no particular version.  My favorite secular Christmas Song is "Jingle Bells" by Shedaisy.  You've got to listen to it!  For your pleasure:

2.  Do you have a special dinner for the holidays? What foods are included?

On Christmas Eve, we have sandwiches and finger foods.  On Christmas Day, we usually have ham or roast.  This year we're having both!

3.  Holiday movies ... which do you like to watch?

My absolute favorite Christmas Movie is "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, etc.  I have to watch it every year :)

4. What traditions do you continue to keep year after year for the holidays?

I've mentioned in a few other posts this year that we get each of our girls an ornament every year.  We started 20 Christmases ago and have continued the tradition.  The idea is for the girls to have ornaments for their own trees one day.

P.S.  I hope you can stop by MY SHOP and give it some love!

  1. Hi Colletta, we both like the same movie. I think it is because I would watch it with my mom as we wrapped presents. I watched it with my dad at his last Christmas too, so it means a lot to me. My husband and I did the same with our kids so when they left, they got to take many of their ornaments. I keep the baby's first Christmas and a few others. Nice to meet you!

  2. Snap! My favourite carol is O Holy Night - it's beautiful. I like your tradition of buying tree ornaments for your daughters.

  3. I do the ornament thing for my son. I think it such a good idea. Have a very Merry Christmas!

  5. People did the ornament thing for me and then for my kids and now I do it for my grandchildren. They each have a "theme" and I try to find an ornament to match...snowmen, elves, reindeer, and penguins.

I think you might have been the one who asked me last week about a recipe for my family's little bite-sized nut rolls...if it was you, I included the recipe today.

  6. Yes, I love "O Holy Night" as well. We just had it sung in our Christmas Cantata at church on Sunday. I like the tradition of saving ornaments for the kids. We had all boys and they weren't particularly interested in the ornaments as much as a girl would be. I still have some special ornaments that were given to them as children, and they still go on our tree every year. If they ever want them they are welcome to take them, but I think they prefer to see them at home on this tree. Someday they will have them all when we are gone on to heaven! Besides, one of our sons still isn't married and lives at home, and one of our sons is in heaven already, and the other just got married a few years ago, but they are establishing their own tree and ornaments together. But I still like your idea, and if I'd had girls I probably would have done things differently. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year!

  7. I was going to start a yearly ornament tradition years ago, but when I missed a couple of years, I gave up. LOL. My mom and I used to collect Coca Cola ornaments.🙂 Merry Christmas! 🎄
