Book Beginnings and 56 ~ Heart in Hand ~ 2/22/13

Please join Rose City Reader and me every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author's name.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Current Read:
Heart in Hand (Stitches in Time, #3)
"Heart in Hand" by Barbara Cameron
The Book Beginning:
"It felt like dawn would never come."
My Thoughts:
Been there!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The 56th Page:

"When Anna showed me the thimble, I recognized it," he said, opening the little wicker sewing basket.  From it he withdrew the thimble and held it out to her."

My Thoughts:

The "he" is Gideon and he's talking to his daughter who had stolen a thimble that reminded her of her deceased mother's thimble.  He had been saving his wife's sewing basket for his daughter until she was older but decided to give it to her then so that she could have the reminders of good memories.  It was quite a touching scene.

Happy Friday!
