My Weekly Bookishness ~ 11/13/2020

All things bookish!

What I Read:

You can read my review HERE!

What I'm Reading:

Blurb:

He was her target. She was his diversion. Falling in love was never something they wanted.

As a con woman who has spent her entire life fending for herself on the streets of London, Rose Wakefield knows how to scam a gentleman out of his money without ever getting caught. That’s until she knocks on the wrong earl’s door and is faced with Carver Ashburn Earl of Kensworth and not the notorious rake she thinks she is approaching.

Carver is a good man, but even a good man will not pass up an opportunity to escape his grief. What better way to avoid his feelings than to play into a con woman’s ruse and offer to marry her?

Things only grow more complicated when Carver sweeps Rose off to his family estate and circumstances force them both into continuing the ruse. Carver needs to protect his family, and Rose needs to protect herself—and her heart.

With so much set against them, will Rose and Carver have a chance at love and freedom? Or is the possibility of more heartache not worth the risk?

First Lines:

London, 1815

It was time to go, but Rose couldn't leave yet.

56%/Page 56

Carver walked to his bedchamber feeling a touch odd, with a vague suspicion that he had made a mistake by bringing Daphney--or so she said was her name--to his home.

What I'll (Probably) Read Next:

Blurb:

He’s lost her twice…he’s not going to lose her again...

NHL Hockey Goalie Wyatt Marshall has everything--fame, money and a thriving career. But he’s hiding the two things that matter most...a career-ending injury, and his broken heart. He’s been in love with Coco Stanley since she walked into his life at age fourteen, a foster child for the Marshall family. She stole his heart years later, when, after a secret tryst, she returned to her home country of Russia. But she won’t let him back into her life—and he can’t figure out why.

She’s harboring a secret that could cost lives...

Coco Stanley is tired of living her life undercover. Or at least, with an assumed name, always pretending to be someone she’s not. And that’s not the only secret she’s harboring. If Wyatt discovers the real reason she left him, it might just destroy him. She’s resigned herself to loving him from afar...

But when he discovers she’s in danger...

Wyatt is horrified when he learns Coco has been shot and left in Russia, her fate unknown. There is nothing—nothing—that will stop him from finding her. So what if he’s not one of his super-heroic brothers, not a Ranger, not a SEAL...Wyatt is a hockey goalie, a special kind of crazy brave. Except, is he brave enough to face the secret Coco is keeping, or will it destroy everything he’s hoped for?

What will it cost them to save her?

What Wyatt and Coco don’t know is that revenge is stalking her and bringing her home just might cost them their long-awaited happy ending.

Q.  What is your favorite social media and why? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

A.  I don't have a favorite but some of the ones I use are Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads and I watch a lot of youtube.  I haven't really gotten into twitter and don't even think I have an account.

  4. WOW! I love the first line of the description for To Con a Gentleman! I'm definitely going to read that one. Thanks for sharing it. I hadn't heard of it before.
Over on my blog I'm sharing the first line from To Steal a Heart by Jen Turano.
Here's the first line from my current read, The Daughter of Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky:

If she lived to be one hundred and five, Katherine Evangeline Ramsey would never understand why every debutante must begin the London social season by curtsying to the king and queen.
