Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 12/11/2023

Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, and Happy Monday!
We're pretty much on the mend from "the sickness" except for Laken who tends to have viruses settle in her lungs due to having asthma.  The on-call provider called her in a steroid to bolster her lungs on Saturday but I'm still going to call her regular provider today.  I just would feel better if she's seen by the provider and has a listen to her lungs.  Just to be safe.  I worry about that girl!
The weather outside is:
For some reason, the 7 day forecast for  my area still has the weekend weather.  It must not have updated yet for the week ahead.  There was a drastic drop in temperature today and now it is spitting snow along with the rain.  It has rained ALL day long.  The week ahead doesn't look bad though!
On today's to-do list:
~Call Laken's healthcare provider to try to have her seen today.
~Pick up my contacts that I ordered weeks ago from my eye doctor.  I just haven't taken the time to stop by and get them.
~Write Christmas Cards
~Clean house
Happening this week:
~Tuesday evening is our Ladies Class Christmas Dinner and Gift Exchange.  Laken and I still need to wrap the present for the gift exchange.  I pray that she is feeling better by then.  She will be heartbroken if she can't go.
~I have a check-up with my healthcare provider on Wednesday.  She's going to want to recheck my A1C as it was borderline pre-diabetic last time I had my routine blood work done.  I have been terrible about trying to make any changes to my diet though.
~Continue reading a chapter a day of the Gospel According to Luke.  I've been doing fairly well with staying on track!
Currently reading:
I took a break from reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear.  I'm undecided if I'll finish it or not.  I guess time will tell.  I've been digging into "Women of the Word" by Jen Wilkin.  I'm well over halfway through it and I just started it a day or two ago.
Watching:
The hubby watched the new Transformers movie Saturday evening.  I had no interest in watching it so I caught up on some youtubers that I follow.  "How to Faith a Life" had a live chat and Q&A going on so I cleaned my desk area while watching/listening.
Listening to:
On the menu today:
Creamed Chip Beef on Toast
In the Craft Basket:
Here is the No Name/No Recipient Blanket that I finished a few weeks ago.  I wanted to show you a picture as promised last week.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've been working on my 2020 Goals and Budget.  I think I'm going to use some free printables I've found to make myself a budget binder.  How do you keep track of your finances?

The weather outside is::::

Dreary.  Just plain dreary.  I heard that we're supposed to get some snow this week.  Maybe that will get me into a more festive mood???

On my breakfast plate:

English Muffin, Eggs, Vanilla Chai Tea

As I look around the house::::

A newly arranged family room!  Yay!
Christmas Presents are wrapped!  Yay!
Our little, mini Christmas Tree is up in the Family Room!

On today's to do list::::

My usual Monday of menu planning and grocery list making.  I also want to get the pillows made that were on my to-do list for last week.

Happening this week::::

Devotions:  I'm still reading in Luke.  Is anyone doing the "Luke Challenge" for December?  If you're not familiar with this, it is reading one chapter of Luke each day of December to read the entire account of Jesus by Christmas.  I know a few people that are doing this with their kids/grandkids.  What a great idea!  This week's Bad Girl of the Bible is going to be the "Woman at the Well".  I haven't done the lesson yet but will be working on it this week.

WW:  I had another gain and decided to change my plan option back to Blue.  I'll be writing more about this on Wednesday.

Exercise:  I've had some major Sciatica pain so I haven't been doing much concentrated exercise :(

Housework:  Family Room rearranged.  Check!  Christmas Tree up.  Check!  Christmas Cards written.  Check!  Laundry put away.  I don't want to talk about it!  hehe

Doug:  We made it through a week of the hubby working second shift.  I'm excited that he is on vacation this week.  He then works one week of third shift and then is off until the New Year!  We don't have any major plans other than family time and maybe going to the movies.  The hubby is planning on hunting too.

Kaylee:  Kaylee is DONE with her very first semester of College!  She is so relieved to be done and on break.  She did very well and I'm so proud of her :)

Laken:  Laken is a bit jealous that she has school while the rest of us are at home this week.  Her Christmas Band Concert is Thursday evening so she is excited for that.  We had to go shopping to get her proper Concert attire:  black dress pants and white button up shirt.

Currently reading::::

I finished "Made Well, and posted the review!

I also finished reading "Generous Love" by Becky Kopitske.  The review will be published tomorrow.

Thankful Thursday ~ 12/5/19

Here are some things that made me smile this week:

~Shopping and Wrapping!  Did you go Black Friday Shopping?  We did, the hubby and I.  We went out Thursday night, Friday and Saturday!  I am shopped out!  Thankfully, we are done with all our Christmas shopping except for my brother.  I just don't know what to get him this year.  How about you?  Are you done with your Christmas Shopping or just getting started?  The hubby and I even started wrapping presents before he went to work Wednesday afternoon!  I feel calm and relaxed so far this Christmas Season :)

~Christmas Music!  I have been informed by the hubby and my girls that it is now appropriate to listen to Christmas Music!  I was surprised that there wasn't much Christmas Music being played over the weekend in the stores.  It just wasn't the same to be Christmas Shopping without Christmas Music!  What is your favorite Christmas Song?  :)

~We Rearranged the Family Room!  After being on my to-do list for weeks, we finally decluttered and rearranged the Family Room!  It flows so much better now but we have to get rid of the corner couch that goes to our sectional.  We just don't have enough room and don't really use it anyway.  The room has a much more "Home Theater" vibe to it now :)

~Decorating the Church!  Sunday evening during Youth Group hour, the Youth Group decorated the Church Building for Christmas.  I'm a Youth Group "helper" so I got to play along.  It was a bit of a struggle getting the kids interested at first but once they got going they got into it and took off with the bins of decorations.  It looks very nice and tasteful.  Just the right amount of decorations :)

~Skipbo!  You can see in the picture above of the Family Room that we now have room for a Game Table!  Kona's bed resides under it but when we want to play games all we have to do is slide the table over and put out some folding chairs from behind the couch.  We made use of it to play Skipbo! Out of 3 games, I won 2!  Laken won the 3rd game!  So, tell me:  What is your favorite Board/Card/Family game? :)

What made you smile this week?

Happy December, Everyone!  Does anyone else get super nerdy excited about turning the page on the calendar?  In fact, I already have my 2020 wall calendar bought and waiting to be hung on the wall.

The weather outside is::::

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  At least here in PA it is :)

On my breakfast plate:

English Muffin, Vanilla Chai Tea

As I look around the house::::

I see Christmas gifts waiting to be wrapped.
I see a Family Room waiting to be arranged.
I see my family watching TV together on the couch :)

On today's to do list::::

I need to create a menu and grocery list for this week and sweep the floor.  I also need to exercise and it is my turn to make supper.  AND...I want to start writing out my Christmas Cards and work on a gift that needs sewn.

Happening this week::::

Devotions:  I'm still reading in Luke.  Our Ladies Bible Study was cancelled yesterday morning due to the ice.  I had already done my Bad Girls of the Bible lesson for the week and it was Lot's Wife.  We should all know what happened to her!  Takeaway:  Obedience is for our own good...AND keep your eyes on where they need to be:  ahead; not behind.

WW:  My Workshop was about overcoming a set back and I really needed that lesson.  I've been losing and gaining the same 3ish pounds for about a month.  It is time to make some real progress before the new year!

Exercise:  I met my Fit Point goal again :)  Oh, Santa!  I'd really like a Fitbit for Christmas!

Housework: I sat down with my agenda and mapped out December so that I won't get too stressed with all the activities.  I'm the kind of person who needs a lot of normalcy along with celebrations.

Doug:  This week the hubby is on 2nd shift but doesn't go in until Tuesday afternoon at 3pm.  He hasn't had to work 2nd shift in years!  It will be hard on the girls not seeing him all week as they will be in school when he is home.  Gotta do what ya gotta do...
Kaylee:  This is Kaylee's last week of the Fall Semester.  She's already done with a lot of her classes but there are still one or two that she still has to go in for.  Today it is supposed to snow and she doesn't have much experience driving in the snow at all.  We'll have her take the Subaru which is All Wheel Drive and it isn't supposed to be much of an accumulation.  She has to learn to drive in inclement whether sometime, but it makes me super nervous!

Laken:  Laken is still off school today for the holiday but goes back tomorrow.  She accidently dropped a full bottle of shampoo on her tow in the shower, so she's hobbling around.  I don't know if she broke her toe or not but you'd think she broke her whole leg!  She can be very dramatic.

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 12/18/17

Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The weather outside is::::
We had some snow this past week that actually hung around for a few days.  Then it warmed up and the snow slowly melted all except for a tiny bit.
We were supposed to go Christmas Caroling after Church last night but it ended up raining and icy so we stayed in and had soup, rolls and cookies.
On my breakfast plate:
Special K Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar
As I look around the house::::
We have been spackling our finger off around here!  I actually have a spot rubbed raw on my finger from the way I was holding the "spackler".  But, now, the spackling is done and we get to paint!  So exciting!!!
On another front, the space we are living in right now is getting even more cramped with presents and snow gear.  I will be so glad when we get to spread out a bit more!
