Journal Entry ~ 1/30/20-2/5/20

A few sentences about each day...

January 30, 2020 - February 5, 2020

30/Thurs ~ Yesterday was my SIL, Kelly's, birthday so we celebrated tonight with pizza and gluten free cake which was surprisingly good.  I got Kaylee's FAFSA application completed this afternoon.  Now we wait.  VOTD:  Psalm 27:14

31/Fri ~ As I'm writing this we are at a Lock In for the Youth.  The kids are currently watching a movie, a few may even be asleep.  Kaylee and I were playing Skipbo and she won!  She wanted me to write that :)  VOTD:  Acts 6:3

1/Sat ~ The Lock In was a success but I've not done much else today after not sleeping very much at all last night.  We did go pick up Laken's birthday cake this afternoon.  VOTD:  Proverbs 16:9

2/Sun~ Today Laken turned 13 years old!  We're watching the Superbowl but I don't think I'm going to stay awake the whole time.  I'm still tired from the Lock In.  VOTD:  Colossians 2:19

3/Mon ~ This evening was the first time we went to the gym as an entire family!  Laken loved being able to go along now that she is 13!  VOTD:  Isaiah 30:21

4/Tues ~ Kaylee is thinking of changing her major to Art.  Art is something she is passionate about.  Lots of praying and decisions to be made.  I was excited to watch the Biggest Loser tonight!  VOTD:  Romans 1:12

5/Wed ~ Kaylee needed to go to the Math Lab today so I wen along and went to the gym while she was there.  Then we went to Wal-Mart for her to get some more gym pants (with pockets).  Doug had a dentist appointment after work then we went to Prayer Meeting/Bible Study.  Now we're watching the Masked Singer.  VOTD:  Ephesians 6:11

Until next week,

Weekly Weigh In ~ 2/5/20

No Workshop or Weigh In this week.  Our Youth Group had a Lock In (all night get-together with food and fun) Friday night and I'm a Youth Helper.  The Lock In wasn't over until 11am Saturday which is well after my Workshop.

I do, however, have some exercise news.  We've been going to the gym pretty regularly for a few weeks now.  Laken turned 13 years old on Sunday and can now go with us!  Monday evening was the first evening that we were able to go to the gym as an entire family of four :)  Laken was very excited to show us her "stuff" :)  We were diligent to make sure she didn't over-do herself, though!

I do mainly cardio but Doug, Kaylee and Laken do a little bit of cardio to warm up and then move on to the weights and lifting area.  I'm just not ready for that yet!  It was actually FUN!  I remember going to the gym by myself and dreading it because everyone else was at home.  I think going as a family will definitely help me be more consistent with my gym time.  I'm definitely feeling stronger!

Weekly Weigh In ~ 1/22/20

We had a major ice storm here in my neck of the woods on Saturday so I wasn't able to make it out to my WW Workshop.  I'm not even sure if they still had it or if it was cancelled.  I saw the ice at 7am and promptly went back under the covers!

So, no weigh in this week...

I do, however, want to mention that I've gotten myself a "fitbit" type contraption for my wrist to measure my steps for the day.  It does a whole lot more than that but was only $23 on amazon.

I wanted to see how many steps I was getting in on a regular day.  I should say how LITTLE steps I get in on a regular day.  "They" recommend getting 10,000 steps a day but on a non-gym/treadmill day I'm only getting 20% of that.  One day that I got on the treadmill for 30 minutes I got about 5,000 steps for the day, so better but still not quite there!

When we go to the gym I'm putting about 60 minutes in on the treadmill and stepper.  Due to the ice, we didn't make it to the gym Monday (I used my treadmill though) so I'm anxious to see how many steps I get in at the gym.

Now,

On to the weigh in:

WW Starting Weight ~ 7/27/19 ~ 290.8 lbs
2020 Starting Weight ~ 12/28/19 ~ 270.2 lbs

This Week's Weight ~ 1/17/20 ~ ? lbs

This Week's Total:  ? lbs

Grand Total: -21.0 lbs

I'll be weighing in on Saturdays and posting my results on Wednesday.  If you'd like to join in on the journey, I'd love to have some weight loss friends!

Thankful Thursday ~ 1/16/20

Here are some things that made me smile this week:

~My Crochet Buddy!  Kona, our chocolate lab, likes to sit on the rug right beside the chair I sit in to crochet.  Whenever I move, she moves.  She's my buddy :)

~Planet Fitness!  We've started going back to the gym.  The hubby, Kaylee and I are going on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  It is so much more fun when you have workout buddies :)

~Doug's Laptop!  My laptop won't stay connected to the internet for some weird reason.  It must have a virus or something like that.  Luckily, the hubby doesn't use his laptop very often so I've kind of confiscated his!  It is nice to have a back up :)

~Kaylee's Books!  Kaylee and I went to the campus bookstore on Monday and got her books for the Spring 2020 Semester which starts TODAY!  Yikes!  Please say a prayer that she does well :)

~Fitbits!  Kaylee has an online gym class this semester.  Isn't that funny?  They do everything online these days.  (I sound so old!)  She wanted some kind fitbit-ty device to monitor her heart rate, miles, steps etc.  We found a "knock-off" fitbit on Amazon for $24.  I forget the brand name and it hasn't arrived yet.  Of course, for $24 I wanted one too!  They should be arriving today or tomorrow :)

What made you smile this week?

Weekly Weigh In ~ 2/2/19

Just a little recap:  Kaylee and I joined Planet Fitness on Wednesday!  It is about 35 minutes from our house so we're planning on making the trip at least 3 times per week.  It will usually be on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

We started out modestly with 2.5 miles on Wednesday and 2.5 miles on Friday.  (Our schedule was mixed up this past week.)  Ultimately, I' d like to get up to 5 miles per workout.  (2 on the treadmill and 3 on the recumbent bike.)

***Side note:  We made a quick stop at Wal-Mart this morning for Kaylee to get some "gym pants".  Why are those things so expensive?  We ended up lucking out and finding some on clearance for $5!  That's right, $5!  As for me, my "gym pants' are getting worn but I refuse to buy new until I'm in a smaller size.  Please, Lord, let me get into a smaller size soon!***

Diet

Today is Laken's 12th birthday so we ate at Cracker Barrel and made her a birthday cake.  Yes, I could have done without the side of mac-n-cheese but what's done is done...

Sunday's are a pretty low-key eating day for me.  I just hope that when getting back onto my regular schedule Monday I can stay on track and have some discipline.  I have got to stay out of THE JUNK FOOD and away from snacking!!!

I've been really good with not drinking any soda (or as we call it, pop).  I've even gotten to the point that I crave water like I used to crave Diet Dr. Pepper!

On to the Weigh In:

Starting Weight ~ 297.0

2/1/19 ~ 285.2

Total:  -11.8

How was your week?

Thankful Thursday ~ 1/31/19

~Tuesday was my SIL's bday!  Kelly spent her birthday having her gallbladder removed :(  So the cake was put on hold until she is able to enjoy it.  Prayers for her continued recovering are much appreciated :)

~Kaylee's friend, Bree, stayed the weekend!  She lives about an hour away so the girls don't get to see each other often.  They had a great time with shopping, playing video games and loading up on snacks :)

~My Moogly CAL Block #2 was featured on the Moogly Facebook cover photo!  So exciting as there are a lot of blocks to choose from :)

~I rejoined Planet Fitness and took Kaylee as my guest!  It is so cold and icy out and impossible to go outside for a walk like we did in the summer and fall.  We went for the first time yesterday.  I'll be posting more about this over at Colletta Is Losing It!  I'd love for you to come visit and follow that blog as well :)

~Damon is a goose!  I'll leave you with this picture of him on his train with his "hat" on :)

What are you thankful for today?

Saturday Weigh-In ~ 10/7/17 ~ LINKUP

It figures that the week I want to talk about my exercise routine, I'd be totally off-schedule!

It happens.  But I've been trying to have the mindset of "persistence not perfection".

So, a NORMAL week for me would look like this:

My Weight Watchers goal is set at 35 FitPoints per week.  Therefore, that is what I strive to achieve.  That means I need to walk a little over 3 hours per week.

My exercise week starts on the weekend.  I'd like to get 1-2 small walks in over the Fri-Sun time period but that doesn't always happen.

The bulk of my exercise time is Monday-Thursday after work from 1pm-2pm.  (I'll talk about WHERE I walk in another post but you can see in my stats.)  If I make the time and effort to walk those four days for 1 hour, I get more than enough time in to earn my 35 FitPoints.

That is the ideal.

Then there are weeks like this week.  I had doctor's appointments and other craziness going on and I didn't fit my walk in over the weekend or on Monday.  That left me 3 days.  3 days to try to fit it all in!  Big mistake!

I decided to up my walking time each of the 3 days to 80 minutes.  It went alright for Tuesday.  Wednesday, I was feeling it a bit by the time I finished.  Thursday morning I could barely walk!  I over-did it.

I didn't increase my speed, just my time.  I need to know my limitations and it seems that 60 minutes a day is my limit!  I know that now.

So, this was the first week in a while that I didn't quite hit my FitPoints goal.  I only made it to 30/35 FitPoints.  This bummed me out a bit but I knew I had to take Thursday off to recuperate.

I guess this wasn't such a bad week to tell you about my routine.  At least the "What Not to Do" part :)

Thankfully, it is a new week and I have a new set of 35 FitPoints to strive for.  Here's to a good exercise week!

What does your exercise routine look like?

My week's stats:

Weigh-in:  +1.0  Total:  -26.2 lbs.

Exercise:
                 Sat:   minutes
                 Sun:    minutes
                 Mon:    minutes
Tues:    80 minutes (Treadmill Planet Fitness)
Wed:     80 minutes (Treadmill Planet Fitness)
                 Thurs:    minutes (Treadmill Planet Fitness)
                  Fri:      minutes
              TOTAL:    160 minutes = 30/35 FitPoints

Notes:  We made fudge.  Peanut Butter Fudge that I couldn't stay out of no matter how disciplined I tried to be!  I fully attribute my 1 pound gain to the 3 pounds of fudge I ate :(  P.S.  That is just an estimate :)
