A Simple Woman's Daybook ~ 2/26/20

Looking out my window:

I'm typing this at 10:01pm, so it is pitch dark!

I am thinking:

I am thinking that I am getting tired and should make sure Laken is in bed.  Morning comes early!

I am thankful:

That I have a wonderful husband who works very hard for his family!

One of my favorite things:

Is chocolate!

I am creating:

I am creating a Prayer Shawl for my "Angel".  I've been working on it for what feels like weeks and am on the home stretch!  I'm using Red Heart Ombre in Scuba.

I am wearing:

My warm, fuzzy PJ's.

I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to:

I am reading "One Thing I Know" by Kara Isaac.  Ms. Isaac has fast become one of my favorite go-to authors to get me out of a reading slump!

I am hoping:

I am hoping to have a quiet, peaceful night's rest.

I am learning:

I am learning about the evil woman Athaliah from 2 Chronicles 22 in my "Really Bad Girls of the Bible" class.

In my kitchen:

Sun:  Church Potluck
Mon:  Nuggets and Mac-n-Cheese
Tues:  Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes
Wed:  Pork Chops, Noodles
Thurs:Chinese, Rice
Fri:  Chicken, Mashed Potatoes
Sat:  Grilled Cheese, Soup

Shared Quote:

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed."

Mark 1:35 NIV

Have a Blessed Day!

Work in Progress ~ 7/4/18

After finishing Ashley's Afghan, I decided to pick up an unfinished project that has been sitting on the back shelf.

This afghan is actually for ME!  I'm using a yarn in my very favorite colors.  It is Red Heart Ombre in Spearmint.

I was going to make a very large afghan that would cover my king size bed but my 11 month old Chocolate Lab has been on a chewing frenzy and it would just break my heart to put all that work into something to have her chew it up!

So, instead of making a 10 X 10 square afghan I decided to make a 5 X 6 afghan/throw.  Here I have approximately 24-25 blocks finished.  So I still need about 5ish more blocks and then to join them and put the border around.

Hopefully, next week I'll be able to show you the finished product!

Work in Progress ~ 6/6/18

"Ashley's Afghan" has come a long way from my last Work in Progress post.  Here is where I was on May 16th, still working on the blocks:

And here is my progress of now:

You can see that the blocks are completed and I'm working on the border.

I'm not completely sure how I'm feeling about it :(

I still have three colors to go around the perimeter with. Then a row of cream and then ending with another row of cream shells.

I'm hoping by the end it will all pull together and look the way I want it to.  Otherwise, I'll be very disappointed...

I started reading The Pelican Bride by Beth White.  It is set in Louisiana in the early 1700's.  It has been a really long time since I've read a book in this time period.  I really can't even remember what it would have been.  So far, it is very interesting.

Side note, my puppy Kona decided to get the book off my bedside table and chew it.  Luckily, she only got the bottom corner and it is still able to be read.

Boxes, boxes and more boxes.

I've been trying to go through each load that we bring into the addition as we go, but there is just so much STUFF!

Our bedroom is pretty much situated.  The family room is getting there but we still need to move the couches in.

The girls are SO HAPPY to have their own rooms once again!  Kaylee (16) has been very responsible about setting up her room and organizing it and decluttering.  Laken (10) however, is happy to live in chaos.  We'll be "motivating" her this week and helping her come up with the best layout and organization.

What I am creating at the moment::::

I've gotten 8 squares crocheted for the afghan to go in my bedroom using Redheart Ombre in Spearmint.  I love how the same yarn can make two squares that have different colors.  So easy!  I'm  really looking forward to seeing how they all come together.  I'm going to be making a total of either 70 or 80 squares for this afghan.  I'm still trying to decide whether to go 7X10 or 8X10.  What do you think?  Is bigger better?  My bed is King sized...
