Sewing Saturday (on Sunday) ~ 3/20/2022

I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.

~~~~~~~~
I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:
~~~~~~~~~~

The 10th Block  of the Sweet Dreams Sew Along is actually a border called:  Pastries.

The week before I accidentally misunderstood and thought we were to put the outside borders on.  The inside dark gray border was fine but the outer light border was not.  Needless to say, I had a date with my seem ripper.

The border that was supposed to be put on was actually a pieced flying geese border.  I debated leaving the light gray and just moving on but I just couldn't!

I am so happy with how it turned out and so glad I took the time to rip off the light gray border and replace it with what the pattern intended.

My favorite pastry is a Cinnamon Roll with Peanut Butter Icing!  Yummm...

Sewing Saturday ~ 3/12/2022 ~ Bundt Cake

I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:

~~~~~~~~~~
Here is my version of the 9th Sweet Dreams Block:  Bundt Cake.  Sorry the picture is sideways!
This block was fairly easy as I decided to use some of my solid colors.
And here are the nine, inner blocks sewn together.  I messed around with the placement of the blocks and this was my final decision.
My favorite Bundt Cake is a Harvest Bundt Cake with a Homemade Caramel Glaze!  Yummo!
Sewing Saturday ~ 3/5/2022 ~ Dessert Bread
I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.
~~~~~~~~

I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:

~~~~~~~~~~
Here is my version of the 8th Sweet Dreams Block:  Dessert Bread
I like to cut out the pieces and then take a picture of the "before" :)
And this is the "after"!
This block took me a bit to figure out the layout and how I wanted it to look.  I needed to use some of the darker gray to balance out the center of the quilt.
I love how it turned out!  Only one more block to go and then I can sew the 9-Patch (blocks) center together.
My favorite Dessert Bread is Banana Nut Bread OR Chocolate Zucchini Bread :)
Sewing Saturday ~ 2/26/2022 ~ Pie Pie Pie!
I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.
~~~~~~~~

I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:

~~~~~~~~~~
Here is my version of the 7th Sweet Dreams Block:  Pie Pie Pie!
It was fairly easy to plan out the colors and piece it together.
The center of the quilt is going to be the first 9 (9.5 inch) squares.  I can't wait to sew them together to see how they look!
My favorite pie is probably PECAN Pie :)  So good!
Sewing Saturday ~ 2/19/2022 ~ Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sugar Cookies and Cake
I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.
~~~~~~~~

I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:

~~~~~~~~~~
I took some time and finally got caught up on blocks 1-6!
Block 4 -- Chocolate Chip Cookies.
I like my Chocolate Chip Cookies with walnuts in them :)
Block 5 -- Soft Sugar Cookies
I like my Sugar Cookies with pink icing!
Block 6 -- Cake
My favorite Cake is hard to pick.  Some of the top contenders would be:  Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Icing, Oatmeal Cake, Texas Sheet Cake or Coconut Cake!
I'm hoping to stay up-to-date from here on out but sometimes life happens :)
Here are my blocks so far:
Sewing Saturday ~ 2/12/2022 ~ Angel Food Cake
I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.
~~~~~~~~

I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:

The first block was called Brownie Love and I loved piecing it!

The second block was Boston Cream Pie and it gave me fits.

The third block is called "Angel Food Cake".  Yummy!

It was easy to decide the placement because I have 3 reds and 3 blues and needed 6 rows.  Yay!  It worked out simply for me :)

This block was super easy to piece.  I can see why some people who are sewing along have made entire quilts from this one block pattern.

I love the simplicity of the heart and so appropriate for this time of year!

This is definitely a block I can see myself making again :)

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 2/7/2022

Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, and Happy Monday!
The weather outside is:
I.  STILL. Can't.  Wait.  For.  Spring.  :)
On today's to-do list:
I'm a few days on my bill writing and banking.  ooops!  Must get that done today!
Other than that, I'll be doing my weekly cleaning and hopefully planning my menu and grocery list for my next shopping trip.
Happening this week:
It is a pretty ordinary week without much going on.  Tuesday evening I have Ladies Meeting but that is about all that is going on other than the ordinary routines.
Currently reading:
I'm getting ready to start reading "What the Wind Knows" by Amy Harmon for the Kindred Readers Book Club's March selection.  Since Bev and I lead the discussion, I try to read ahead and get the questions prepared the month before.  If anyone is interested in joining in, you can find the group on facebook.
On the TV:
Ghostbusters Afterlife (DVD)
The Gilded Age (HBO Max)
Coyote Ugly (Hulu)
Hidden Figures (Disney +)
Listening to:
This week for "Songs on Sunday" I featured "Woman at the Well" by Olivia Lane.  I hope you'll check it out :)
On the menu today:
Baked Cheese Ravioli in Meat Sauce, Garlic Bread, Broccoli, Fruit Cocktail.
In the Craft Basket:
I worked on the "Sweet Dreams" sew along by Pat Sloan at www.ilovetomakequilts.com .  I finished the second block called "Boston Cream Pie"  I also worked on hand-quilting Mom's Blue and White Quilt while watching TV.
Laken baking her birthday cake :)
Memory Verse
"If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet."
Proverbs 3:24 ESV
Have a great Monday!
Sewing Saturday ~ 2/5/2022 ~ Boston Cream Pie
I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.
~~~~~~~~

I'm going to try to sew at least one block a week in the Pat Sloan sew-along called "Sweet Dreams". I'm using the fabrics below:

The first block from last week was called Brownie Love and I loved piecing it!  Piece of cake :)

The second block is called Boston Cream Pie, which I'm not overly fond of...

I should have known this block would give me fits!  I almost had to walk away and come back to it another day!  But, it was Friday Night With Friends and I wanted to participate :(

I think one of my main problems is that I was in a rush and that is when mistakes happen.  Mistakes in measuring, cutting, piecing, etc., etc., etc.

And then when I had ***1*** seam left to sew, I ran out of bobbin thread!  Argh!

I'm not totally in love with my fabric placement, but it is done and that is what matters most.

In all, this was NOT easy as pie!  At least for me....
