Tea Time ~ 3/3/2022

Grab a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or your favorite drink
while I share a few things about my life lately...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~A friend posted a message last week that two baby kittens had been dropped off at her barn.  They would NOT have survived there on their own so we said we would take them in!  They are now going to be the first house cats we've had in years.  They are sooooo very tiny!  I took them to the vet on Tuesday and she said they look great and are very healthy but they are also very young.  She told us to keep doing what we're doing with them.  They've already captured our hearts!  They are so stinking cute!  There is one boy and one girl.  The boy has been named Flynn Orion.  Laken is having a rather hard time deciding on a name for the little girl.  The top contenders are Clover, Meadow and Violet with Sage as the middle name.  Let me know what you think we should name her!
Little girl.
Flynn Orion
~Laken is getting ready to select her schedule for next school year.  This year she has been online schooling due to her stomach/migraine issues and it has been difficult staying on schedule.  She has 3 options for 10th grade.  (1) online schooling (2) in-person schooling (3) in-person schooling along with vo-tech for Bio-Technology.  We went to the vo-tech Open House to see if it would be anything Laken would be interested in and she likes the idea of experiments and lab work.  She would still have to take all her academic classes along with vo-tech which would take place of 3 elective credits.  Time to make some big-girl decisions.
~Hello, March!  It is officially my Birth Month and I will be celebrating all month-long :)  I started by taking some time for myself and getting a mani/pedi.  Both were long overdue!  I picked a dark, sparkly red for both my fingers and my toes :)
~Laken's new glasses came in yesterday.  We ordered them Sunday afternoon!  I was shocked when the Vision Center called to say that they were there.  I think they are adorable :)
~I didn't want to pass the week by without mentioning the situation in the Ukraine.  My thoughts and prayers are going out daily to those who are being effected!
Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 2/28/2022
Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello, and Happy Monday!

The weather outside is:

It is almost March and it appears to be coming in like a lamb.  What do you think?  Lion or Lamb?

On today's to-do list:

Other than the normal Monday tasks, I have a visitation at the Funeral Home to attend in the evening.  The father of a good friend from school and Church passed away Friday and I want to pay my respects and support my friend.

Happening this week:

Tuesday, I have an appointment with the vet (more on that to come!) and the Kindred Readers Book Club will begin discussing "What the Wind Knows" by Amy Harmon.

Wednesday the 7th Sweet Dreams quilt block pattern will be coming out!  Laken has a dentist appointment in the morning also.

Thursday is Bills and Bank day.  I'll also work on a menu and grocery list.

Friday is grocery day and "catch-up on housework before the weekend" day :)  In the evening is Friday Night With Friends.

Saturday is Family Day, which we don't really have anything planned as of today.  Maybe we'll have a Game Night...

Currently reading:

I'm going to be reading "You and Me" by Becky Wade.  It is a Misty River Romance novella that I'm hoping to get finished in order to post a book review on Tuesday.

On the TV:

Gilded Age Episode 5 -  HBO MAX
Aristocats - Disney +

Listening to:

This week for "Songs on Sunday" I featured "Jesus is Coming Back" by Jordan Feliz.  I hope you'll check it out :)

On the menu today:

Pork Chops, Au Gratin Potatoes, Broccoli, Oranges

In the Craft Basket:

This past week I worked on the "Sweet Dreams" sew along by Pat Sloan at www.ilovetomakequilts.com .  I finished block 7 called Pie, Pie, Pie!  You can read more about it on my Sewing Saturday post :)

Little Audrey Belle turned 2 months old on February 23rd.  She's so sweet :)

Memory Verse

"And  whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ."

Have a great Monday!

The Good Stuff ~ 3/4/2021

Here are some things that made me thankful/smile/excited this week:

~~~~~~~~
~A Baby Shower!  Steph is getting ready to pop!  She has less than 5 weeks until baby girl Annalea Marie makes her appearance.  After Church on Sunday, we had a Baby Shower to show Steph how much she is loved and appreciated.  It is hard work building a baby and she deserved to be showered with love!  It was lots of fun and CAKE!  There was CAKE!  :)
~March!  I am ever so glad that February is over and we have moved on to the month of March!  I'll be even more excited next Saturday when we Spring Forward!
~New Author!  Ivy Hart is a fun new-to-me author I discovered this week.  You can read about her first book of the Jardin Sisters HERE .  Isn't this cover gorgeous?
~Good Doctor's Appointment!  Yesterday I had my annual check-up with my family doctor.  Everything has been on an even keel medicine-wise for me (knock on wood!) so nothing major to talk about.  I go next week for routine blood work and yearly mammogram.  Gotta take care of myself :)
What are you thankful for/smiling/exited about this week?  Tell me all the good stuff!
Journal Entry ~ 2/26/20-3/3/20
A few sentences about each day...
February 26, 2020 - March 3, 2020
26/Wed ~ I just don't know what to do with my hair!  I don't like my current style.  I can't decide if it is the cut or the highlights.  I might go tomorrow and get "something' done but I'm still not sure what!  I wish I could find a cut/color that I like and just stick with it!
27/Thurs ~ I decided to change up my hair color.  I got rid of my blonde highlights and went with an all-over "mocha".  The highlights are shining through as a reddish color that I love!  I decided to keep the undercut (for now) but let the top layers grow to about chin length.  I have 3"-4" to go.  The stylist did a great job!
28/Fri ~ After school Laken and a few of her friends walked to a nearby coffee shop.  She thought she was big stuff!  hehe  I'm glad she had a good time and it is good for her to spread her wings a bit.
29/Sat ~ Doug worked on the bedroom closets today and we made a trip to Ollie's to look for curtains for on the closets.  Success!  Today is "Leap Day"!
1/Sun ~ February is FINALLY over and my Birth Month is here!  Happy March!
2/Mon ~ My mammogram came back normal.  Hallelujah!  Good to go for another year.  I fasted this morning so I could get my routine blood work done as well.  Now to wait for the results...
3/Tues ~ I have to make it an early night tonight.  Laken and I have to get up at 3am to her ready for the Science Olympiad.  The bus leaves the school at 5am sharp and we have a 30 minute drive to get there.  Laken is so excited about this trip!  She loves science!
Until next week,
Tea Time ~ Mammograms and Dr. Seuss ~ 3/2/18
Grab a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or your favorite drink
while I share a few things about my life lately...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~It is officially my BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!  I love turning the calendar over to March.  This is a big year for me.  4-0 !!!  I'm excited!  To celebrate, I got a manicure with my favorite turquoise polish :)

~I got the result of my annual mammogram in the mail.  I'm glad to say that I'm good to go for another year!  Everything looks good :)

~I also received the results of my annual bloodwork.  Everything came back good except for my Vitamin D.  Even though I take 2,000 units a day, I just can't seem to get my numbers to come up.  My doctor is prescribing and additional 50,000 units per week.  Hopefully that will do the trick...

~The Subaru once again has low beams!  Both low beams blew out within days of each other.  The thing with our Subaru is that it isn't a simple bulb change.  Basically, the whole front has to be taken apart to get to the bulb.  I called the little garage we go to and they were able to schedule us to bring the car in on Monday afternoon.  I'm glad to not have to give people high beams anymore!

~Saturday evening we had a Family Movie Night!  We stopped by the Redbox and rented "Wonder" and "Daddy's Home 2".  "Wonder" was wonderful!  "Daddy's Home 2" was hilarious!  Hopefully, I'll write up a Movie Review for each soon.  We had a nice time together complete with M&M's.  The Dollar General was all out of Twizzlers!  Can you believe that???

~Mom and Laken made Chocolate Chip Cookies Tuesday evening.  Yummmmm....

~We had a Senior Parent Meeting last evening.  I can't believe Kaylee is graduating.  In a way, I can't wait for it to be over.  We were handed a whole list of things that are going on in the next few months.  It is a little bit overwhelming.  Senior pictures, senior trip, baccalaureate, due dates, etc.  So much!  It is no wonder Kaylee is feeling overwhelmed also.

~It is Dr. Seuss Week for Laken.  She's had fun participating in the themes for the days.  Her favorite so far was Thursday.  They were to dress as what they want to be when they grow up.  Laken wants to own a bakery, so her costume consisted of an apron and the Chocolate Chip Cookies mentioned above!
