10 on the 10th ~ March 2022

~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.  List your favorite thing about Spring.  Which season do you like the best?
My favorite thing about Spring is shedding my coat and shoes.  I hate having to wear a large, cumbersome coat and I love my flip flops!
2.  What puts a spring in your step?  What does your favorite pair of shoes look like?  When do you wear them?
Walking outside and breathing in the fresh air without it freezing my nostrils puts a spring in my step :)  My favorite pair of shoes are plain old $10 flip flops.  I wear them constantly from March through November!
3.  Around St. Patrick's Day we see invitations to 'kiss me, I'm Irish' on graphic tees and images everywhere.  Are you Irish?  I not, what would your graphic tee read?  'Kiss me, I'm..."
I actually do have some Irish ancestors.  In fact, Honora O'Flynn, my grandmother to the umpteenth degree, was kidnapped of the coast of Ireland and brought to America as an indentured servant.  I find that fascinating.  However, my graphic tee would read 'Kiss me, I'm American!'
4.  What flowers would make up your perfect spring bouquet.  What is your favorite floral fragrance?
My answer to both questions would be lilacs.  Lilacs are my absolute favorite flower :)
5.  Spring cleaning?  A necessary evil or overrated?  What's your favorite cleaning tip?  Cleaning product?
Spring Cleaning is both a necessary evil AND overrated!  I hate it but it needs done.  My favorite cleaning tip is to tidy up everyday so that it doesn't get overwhelming all at one time.  My favorite cleaning product is my off-brand "Swiffer" wet mop.
6.  Slinkies are coiled spring toys.  Did you ever have a Slinky?  Silly Putty?  What was your favorite toy as a child?
I think I did have a Slinky as a child.  I don't specifically remember Silly Putty.  My favorite toy as a child was probably our kickball.  Or my bike!  Does a bike count as a toy?  Kids need to get outside and PLAY!
7.  When we 'spring forward' on March 13, what do you hope to do in that extra daylight?
I'm hoping that the weather will be lovely and I can sit on my porch swing, my 'happy place'.
8.  The following colors will be trending for spring:  soft lilac, canary yellow, hot pink, salted caramel, scarlet, sky blue.  Will you be styling any of these?  Is there a color you will avoid?
I didn't know 'salted caramel' was a color!  I'm not a very 'trendy' person, so I'll probably just be wearing what is already in my wardrobe.
9.  What will you be reading this spring?  Do you have a favorite devotional or quiet time routine?
My book club will be reading 'What the Wind Knows' by Amy Harmon in March and 'Fried Green Tomatoes' by Fannie Flagg in April.  Right now my devotional is called 'Devotions from the Front Porch'.  The photography is amazing!
10.  Share an inspirational thought or spring quote.  Why does this speak to you?
I love this quote.  It reminds me that there can always be hope, even in the midst of darkness.
Tea Time ~ 3/3/2022
Grab a cup of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or your favorite drink
while I share a few things about my life lately...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~A friend posted a message last week that two baby kittens had been dropped off at her barn.  They would NOT have survived there on their own so we said we would take them in!  They are now going to be the first house cats we've had in years.  They are sooooo very tiny!  I took them to the vet on Tuesday and she said they look great and are very healthy but they are also very young.  She told us to keep doing what we're doing with them.  They've already captured our hearts!  They are so stinking cute!  There is one boy and one girl.  The boy has been named Flynn Orion.  Laken is having a rather hard time deciding on a name for the little girl.  The top contenders are Clover, Meadow and Violet with Sage as the middle name.  Let me know what you think we should name her!

Little girl.

Flynn Orion

~Laken is getting ready to select her schedule for next school year.  This year she has been online schooling due to her stomach/migraine issues and it has been difficult staying on schedule.  She has 3 options for 10th grade.  (1) online schooling (2) in-person schooling (3) in-person schooling along with vo-tech for Bio-Technology.  We went to the vo-tech Open House to see if it would be anything Laken would be interested in and she likes the idea of experiments and lab work.  She would still have to take all her academic classes along with vo-tech which would take place of 3 elective credits.  Time to make some big-girl decisions.

~Hello, March!  It is officially my Birth Month and I will be celebrating all month-long :)  I started by taking some time for myself and getting a mani/pedi.  Both were long overdue!  I picked a dark, sparkly red for both my fingers and my toes :)

~Laken's new glasses came in yesterday.  We ordered them Sunday afternoon!  I was shocked when the Vision Center called to say that they were there.  I think they are adorable :)

~I didn't want to pass the week by without mentioning the situation in the Ukraine.  My thoughts and prayers are going out daily to those who are being effected!

How was your week?

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 2/28/2022

Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, and Happy Monday!
The weather outside is:
It is almost March and it appears to be coming in like a lamb.  What do you think?  Lion or Lamb?
On today's to-do list:
Other than the normal Monday tasks, I have a visitation at the Funeral Home to attend in the evening.  The father of a good friend from school and Church passed away Friday and I want to pay my respects and support my friend.
Happening this week:
Tuesday, I have an appointment with the vet (more on that to come!) and the Kindred Readers Book Club will begin discussing "What the Wind Knows" by Amy Harmon.
Wednesday the 7th Sweet Dreams quilt block pattern will be coming out!  Laken has a dentist appointment in the morning also.
Thursday is Bills and Bank day.  I'll also work on a menu and grocery list.
Friday is grocery day and "catch-up on housework before the weekend" day :)  In the evening is Friday Night With Friends.
Saturday is Family Day, which we don't really have anything planned as of today.  Maybe we'll have a Game Night...
Currently reading:
I'm going to be reading "You and Me" by Becky Wade.  It is a Misty River Romance novella that I'm hoping to get finished in order to post a book review on Tuesday.
On the TV:
Gilded Age Episode 5 -  HBO MAX
Aristocats - Disney +
Listening to:
This week for "Songs on Sunday" I featured "Jesus is Coming Back" by Jordan Feliz.  I hope you'll check it out :)
On the menu today:
Pork Chops, Au Gratin Potatoes, Broccoli, Oranges
In the Craft Basket:
This past week I worked on the "Sweet Dreams" sew along by Pat Sloan at www.ilovetomakequilts.com .  I finished block 7 called Pie, Pie, Pie!  You can read more about it on my Sewing Saturday post :)
Have a great Monday!
