Sewing Saturday ~ 1/22/2022

I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.

~~~~~~~~
I did it!  I finished the Fall Frolic by Pat Sloan (Mom's Blue and White Quilt) top!
I didn't think I would get it done this month as I had 4 blocks to piece and then the sashing to cut and piece.
Then I had the taxing job of putting it all together and wrestling with the bulky top.
I love how it turned out!
My goal for the Friday Night Sew In is to get the quilt top sandwiched and pinned so that I can start hand quilting.
However, COVID has hit our house and I don't know if I'll feel like crawling around on the floor to pin it.  It might have to wait until I'm feeling much better.
I'm excited to have the flimsy done though :)
Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 1/17/2022
Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello, and Happy Monday!

The weather outside is:

As I'm writing this post Sunday evening the snow is coming thick and heavy.  We're supposed to get a total of 5-8 inches, at least that was the latest prediction.  I've heard everything from 6-20 inches over the past few days.  I wouldn't mind so much but the hubby, Kaylee and Shawn have to drive in it to get to work.  Prayers appreciated!

On today's to-do list:

Snuggling in the house and reading.  I didn't want to have to go grocery shopping in during the snow storm, so I stocked up on enough for a week on Friday.  I thought the stores would be crazy and they were!

Happening this week:

We should hear back from Laken's biopsies from her scopes this week.  They may be delayed because of the snow, but I would think we'll hear back by the end of the week.  I'm praying that they can do something and get Laken's stomach problems treated.

The hubby is on daylight this week.  I'm not sure if he'll be working overtime or not.  He'll probably find out when he gets there.

This Friday is the Friday Night Sew In!  I'll be working on getting my Mom's Blue and White Quilt sandwiched so I can start hand quilting.  I'm looking forward to it :)

Currently reading:

I'm currently reading "The Ex Talk" by Rachel Lynn Solomon.  It is the Kindred Readers Book Club selection for February 2022.  I'm reading it now so that I can have discussion questions ready to go.  I've just gotten started so I can't really say one way or the other what I think.  I will say that there is some language in it.  I'm not really used to that but I'll overlook it as long as the story is there.

On the TV:

Happy Feet
Steeler VS Cheifs Football
Hallmark
Encanto (again!)

Listening to:

This week for "Songs on Sunday" I featured "River of Life" by Max Powell.  I hope you'll check it out :)

On the menu week:

Monday ~ Pork Chops, homemade mac-n-cheese
Tuesday ~ Spaghetti, Garlic Bread
Wednesday ~ Fish, Fries
Thursday - Ham, Fried Potatoes
Friday ~ Pizza
Saturday ~ Toasted Cheese and Tomato Soup
Sunday ~ Potluck at Church

In the Craft Basket:

I worked almost all Saturday to get Mom's Blue and White Quilt top pieced.  Now that it is together I think there is almost too much white???  The sashing is white-on-white.  Maybe I should have picked a blue on white???  Oh well, too late now!   :)

Memory Verse

"But I have trusted in they mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.  I will sing unto the LORD, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.?"

Have a great Monday!

Sewing Saturday ~ 1/8/2022

I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.

~~~~~~~~
Friday evening was Friday Night with Friends so I made some time to sit at my sewing machine and piece the blocks that I had cut out last week.
Below is the very first log cabin block I've ever pieced.  It was so easy (after I decided the placement!).  I'm thinking of making a Log Cabin Quilt now.  What do you think?  Have you ever made one?
I really wish the medallion in the center of the block below would have been more centered.  I'm kicking myself for not noticing beforehand!
Now to cut and sew the settings and borders and actually put the top together :)  These blocks were all a part of Pat Sloan's Fall Frolic.
One Monthly Goal ~ January 2022
 Come join this awesome motivational link up hosted by Elm Street Quilts!
~~~~~~~~~

My OMG for January 2022 is going to be to finish the blue Fall Frolic quilt top that I'm making for my Mom.

I have 6 of the blocks already pieced.  Below is one of them.

I have the last 3 blocks cut out and just need to sew them.

Then I need to piece the settings and border.

My January goal is to complete the flimsy (quilt top).

Wish me luck!

Sewing Saturday ~ Happy New Year ~ 1/1/2022

I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.

~~~~~~~~
I don't want to keep posting pictures of the slow-going Sage Afghan so I made some time to work on something fabric this week!
I have 6 blocks done of Pat Sloan's Fall Frolic and 3 more to go... Blocks 7, 8, &9.  I've had the patterns printed for a few weeks but just haven't made it to the cutting board.
I decided to to cut out the pieces for all three blocks and get them ready to GO!
The most challenging was Block 8 -- Cozy Nights which is a Log Cabin Block.  I've been using 4 blue patterned fabrics and this block called for 6 fabrics.  I made due with what I had.  I didn't want to introduce a 5th and 6th color into the quilt for just one block.
I'm getting this post ready a few days ahead of time (New Year's Celebrations) so they might be pieced by the time you are reading this.
This quilt will be for my Mom as she loves all things Blue.
The next Block a week with Pat Sloan starts January 5th with a new quilt called "Sweet Dreams".  I had hoped to have the Fall Frolic flimsy done and sandwiched and ready to be hand quilted before then but that isn't going to happen.  I still need to piece the settings for the squares and that may take a while.
I wish each and every one of you a great 2022 filled with God's blessings from above!
Friday Night Sew-in ~ December 2021 ~ Goals
"Friday Night Sew-In" is hosted by Wendy Bertello at Sugarlane Designs .  FNSI is set for the 3rd Friday of each month (Australia-time) but as participants are joining in from all over the world, you can participate any time from Thursday - Saturday, depending on where you are.
~~~~~~~~~~

This Friday is the Friday Night Sew-In.

I haven't decided which project to work on yet but it will either be the Sage Afghan or the Fall Frolic Quilt Blocks.  It will depend on if I'm in the mood to crochet or sew.

The Sage Afghan is my One Monthly Goal so I've been working mostly on it.

But...

I've gotten a bit behind on the Fall Frolic Sew along by Pat Sloan.  I have 4 quilt blocks to sew to catch up.  Here are a couple of my completed blocks for your viewing pleasure :)

Again, it is going to depend on if I want to sit at my sewing machine or recline on the couch as to which I'll work on.  I'll let you know on Saturday which one I decide :)

One Monthly Goal ~ December 2021

 Come join this awesome motivational link up hosted by Elm Street Quilts!

~~~~~~~~~
I think for December's One Monthly Goal, I'm going to be working on the Sage Afghan that I started over the weekend.
I got the yarn (4 Caron One Pounders in Soft Sage) for 60% off at Joann Fabrics Saturday evening so it was still the Black Friday deal.
I'm using Attic 24's Cozy Stripe pattern because it is super simple and I can mindlessly crochet while watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
As you can see, I have about 14 rows crocheted so far.  I really have no idea how many rows I need to make it the size I want.  I'll know when I get there!
I made this project my One Monthly Goal because in early January, I should be able to start hand-quilting the Blue Fall Frolic quilt designed by Pat Sloan that I'm making my Mom for her birthday present.
Wish me luck!
