Book Review ~ What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon

Title:  What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon
Pages:  402
Date Published:  March 1, 2019
Publisher:  Lake Union Publishing

In an unforgettable love story, a woman’s impossible journey through the ages could change everything…

Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time.

The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar. Mistaken for the boy’s long-missing mother, Anne adopts her identity, convinced the woman’s disappearance is connected to her own.

As tensions rise, Thomas joins the struggle for Ireland’s independence and Anne is drawn into the conflict beside him. Caught between history and her heart, she must decide whether she’s willing to let go of the life she knew for a love she never thought she’d find. But in the end, is the choice actually hers to make?
My Thoughts:

All I can think is "Wow!" yet that somehow isn't enough.

"What the Wind Knows" and the author Amy Harmon captured me fully from the prologue to the very last page.

I found myself pacing my reading because I didn't want it to end before it had to.  I made sure that when I sat down to read, I would be able to fully engulf myself in the story with no distractions.

I loved this book and am sad to see it come to an end :(

If I were a "star-giver" it would be 5 stars, all the way!

I bought a paperback copy of this book to read for the Kindred Readers Book Club March 2022 selection.  I'd love to have you come read-along with us :)

Onto the next book!

  1. Great review! Can't wait to read it. have several on the go now - so will probably start next week.

    1. It was SOOOO very good and to think that I probably wouldn't have read it if it wasn't a book club selection!
