What I'm Reading:

Blurb:

He’s lost her twice…he’s not going to lose her again...

NHL Hockey Goalie Wyatt Marshall has everything--fame, money and a thriving career. But he’s hiding the two things that matter most...a career-ending injury, and his broken heart. He’s been in love with Coco Stanley since she walked into his life at age fourteen, a foster child for the Marshall family. She stole his heart years later, when, after a secret tryst, she returned to her home country of Russia. But she won’t let him back into her life—and he can’t figure out why.

She’s harboring a secret that could cost lives...

Coco Stanley is tired of living her life undercover. Or at least, with an assumed name, always pretending to be someone she’s not. And that’s not the only secret she’s harboring. If Wyatt discovers the real reason she left him, it might just destroy him. She’s resigned herself to loving him from afar...

But when he discovers she’s in danger...

Wyatt is horrified when he learns Coco has been shot and left in Russia, her fate unknown. There is nothing—nothing—that will stop him from finding her. So what if he’s not one of his super-heroic brothers, not a Ranger, not a SEAL...Wyatt is a hockey goalie, a special kind of crazy brave. Except, is he brave enough to face the secret Coco is keeping, or will it destroy everything he’s hoped for?

What will it cost them to save her?

What Wyatt and Coco don’t know is that revenge is stalking her and bringing her home just might cost them their long-awaited happy ending.

First Lines:

Usually Wyatt, goalie for the Minnesota Blue Ox NHL Team, could shrug off his mistakes.

56%/Page 56

Maybe she shouldn't have come--she was practically a glutton for pain.  She should have given in to her impulse to turn and, well, run.

What I'll (Probably) Read Next:

Blurb:

Lauren Dalton’s world shattered the day her father died. It shattered again when she found a box of old keepsakes commemorating a life she’d never even known he lead.

Heartbroken but determined, she accepts a seasonal job in rural Alaska to look after an injured musher’s dogs while searching for the truth about her father’s hidden past. But her cantankerous new boss comes with dangerous secrets of his own.

When a fire ravages part of the property, all will be revealed—and four-thousand miles away from the only home she’s ever known, Lauren will discover just how quickly everything can change.

What I Was Reading 5 Years Ago:

Originally a feature called Last Year I Was Reading created by Maria from ReadingMaria
Literary Feline liked it enough to continue, but has tweaked it

Book Blogger Hop:

Q.  What upcoming books are you intrigued to read in 2021? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer

A. I don't have any particular books in mind but I tend to want to read my newest downloads first!  (See above :)  My excitement over new finds is what I find intriguing.  I'm getting quite the selection of books on my  Kindle and need to make a concentrated effort to read some of the books I've had for a while.

Bookishly Yours,

Colletta

  7. I have so many books "trapped" on my Kindle that I really need to read and I promised myself I wasn't going to get any more books from the library until I tackled them all... and then I went to the library to drop off some books and came home with a good dozen or so new ones!

  8. You have a lot of planned for your upcoming reading and current reads. Right now I am reading as a judge for a book award so I have all my reads planned out for me for a least a month. Sigh. My Friday post

  12. My first line is from Endless Mercy by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse. The second book in Treasures of Nome series.
    Nome, Alaska. September 1904

The lively tune on the piano couldn’t keep up with the smile in Madysen’s heart.

  13. fiction is fiction, I know. BUt if you're going to write about ice hockey, using the actual league name (NHL), I think you should use an actual team name. That kind of stuff, and misrepresentation of sports in movies, bugs me. Sorry to be a downer. Hope you enjoy the rest of the book.

    1. I don't think the author meant anything by it... As you said, fiction is fiction.
