"31 Verses" ~ Verse 3 ~ Proverbs 29:25

 29358392

Welcome to "31 Verses"!

I'm so glad you have joined me today!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Verse #3:
"Fear of man will prove to be a snare,
but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe."
Proverbs 29:25
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Study Questions:

1.  Hebrews 13:6 boldly asks, "What can mere mortals do to me?"  How would you respond to that question in light of your life experiences?

When I was younger, I was extremely shy!  So shy that I would literally hide behind my older brother.  (Thanks for being there for me, Dan!)  As I've grown in age and in wisdom, I hope, I've realized that other people are not something to be afraid of.  I don't have to hide from them.  I can boldly express myself and give my opinion on matters.  They won't "bite".  The ONE I need to please is God and not man.

2.  If you're prone to worry about people's opinions of you, what might help you rest in God's opinion?  Or if you have no fear of what people think, what helped you achieve that mind-set?

I still do, to a certain extent, worry about what others think of me.  I think my knowledge of Christ and His Word has helped me overcome this mind-set.  I've learned that if I seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, everything else will come in time.  I'm a lot more laid back over-all.

Liz's Tip #3 for Memorizing Scripture:

Pick a good place.
It helps to do memory work in consistent surroundings.

It is my greatest desire that you truly take the time to write Proverbs 29:25 on your heart this week.

I hope you will answer the study questions on your blog and leave a link in the comments.  If you don't have a blog, please feel free to leave any answers, thoughts or questions in the comments.

"31 Verses" ~ Verse 2 ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

 29358392

Welcome to "31 Verses"!

I'm so glad you have joined me today!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Verse #1:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Study Questions:

1.  Was there a defining moment when you became a follower of Christ?  If you can't pinpoint a date and time, how do you know without a doubt that vital change took place?

I believe, as the Bible says, that the defining moment you become a follower of Christ is the moment you obey the Way of Salvation and are baptized to rise and to walk in a newness of life.  For me, that was on Sunday, June 3, 1990, when I was 12 years old.

2.  Just as 2 Corinthians 5:17 begins with "therefore", so does Romans 8:1.  Read Romans 7:21-15 for a bit of background.  Then consider each word and phrase in Romans 8:1, noting what it reveals about this foundational truth for believers and how that truth encourages you.

Therefore:  taking into account that I do what I shouldn't and don't do what I should
there is now:  before there wasn't, but now there is
no condemnation:  no holding against me my sins
for those who are in Christ Jesus:  because I have had my sins washed away and am in Christ Jesus

This encourages me because I can know (even though I sometimes don't feel like it) that I am no longer going to be held accountable for my sins.  Jesus paid it all on the Cross of Calvary.

Liz's Tip #2 for Memorizing Scripture:

Memorize the reference, then the verse, and then repeat the reference.

It is my greatest desire that you truly take the time to write 2 Corinthians 5:17 on your heart this week.

"31 Verses" ~ Verse 1 ~ Proverbs 3:3

 29358392

Welcome to "31 Verses"!

I'm so glad you have joined me today!  I hope you've been looking forward to this study as much as I have been :)

I've been thinking and pondering for about a month how to bring this study across on my blog.  I'm hoping that you have gotten a book to study along with, but if not, I still want you to be able to follow along.  (I do suggest you get the book.  There is a ton of great information within!)

I think what we'll do is focus on the verse and the study questions in the back of the book as well as the author's (Liz) tips for memorizing scripture.

So without further ado, we're off!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Verse #1:
"Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 3:3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Study Questions:

1.  What is a Bible verse you especially like?  Why is it meaningful to you?

There are so many verses that I love.  If you look at my Bible you will see I have underlines EVERYWHERE!  However, one verse that is especially meaningful to me is Proverbs 16:3.

Why is this so meaningful?  Last year I picked the word "COMMIT" as my Word for the Year.  I think I'm going to keep it for another year as I still learn about committing.  There are so many things I want to commit to.  Bible Study, Reading, Exercise, Weight Loss, etc., etc., etc.!  No matter what it is that I'm trying to commit to, I want to succeed.  This verse promises that if I commit to the Lord WHATEVER I do, my plans will succeed.  I'm clinging to this promise!

2.  God's love and faithfulness truly are inseparable.  In what ways do Psalms 26:3; 40:11; 85:10 and 89:14 reinforce that truth?  And why do those two qualities go hand in hand?

These verses tell us that lovingkindness and faithfulness (truth) have "met" together.  (NASB)  BECAUSE of God's love, He is faithful.  He has been faithful in the past.  He is faithful now.  He will be faithful in the future.  He loves us that much!  We can trust in that and stand with confidence before the throne of grace.  (Hebrews 4:16)

Liz's Tip #1 for Memorizing Scripture:

Pray!  It is the most important step of all.

It is my greatest desire that you truly take the time to write Proverbs 3:3 on your heart this week.

I hope you will answer the study questions on your blog and leave a link in the comments.  If you don't have a blog, please feel free to leave any answers or questions in the comments.
