First Lines Friday ~ 6/14/19

https://hoardingbooksblog.wordpress.com/

Today's "First Lines" and "56" are from:

French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana
September 7, 1866

Claire Laurent studied the finished canvas on the easel before her, and though "masterpiece" hardly described it, she knew the painting was her best yet.

Even more, she would have liked him to think well of her, maybe even desire to know her better too.

P.S. I hope you can stop by my ETSY SHOP!

  1. I would love to visit New Orleans, so I might keep this book on my updated to read list.

  2. Today on my blog I shared the first line from The pink Bonnet by Liz Tolsma but I'm currently reading Britfield & the Lost Crown by C.R. Stewart so I'll share the first line from my current chapter (13) here: "Thirty minutes later, Tom and Sarah enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate, along with a tray of desserts including Bakewell tarts, Eccles cakes, treacle pudding and crème brulee." Sounds appetizing! Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  4. I love Tamera Alexander's books, but I actually haven't read that one! Today I am sharing the first line from The King's Mercy by Lori Benton: "Alex MacKinnon roused to the press of wood beneath his cheek and an ominous churning in his gut."

  6. Wouldn't it be fun to to be able to wear dresses that look like the one on the cover? Fun.

  7. Happy Friday!

A Lasting Impression is on my TBR list. I've heard a lot of good things about this story.

This week, I’m featuring Colleen Coble’s The Lightkeeper’s Bride on my blog. I’m also reading A Whisper of Peace by Kim Vogel Sawyer set in 1898 Alaska. I’m going to share the opening line: “Not once in all of her twenty-one years had Lizzie Dawson seen a moose behind her cabin.”

Hope you have a nice weekend 🙂

  8. Happy Friday! I'm sharing from Karen Barnett's Ever Faithful on my blog today. Here is the first line from Chapter 2:

"What have you done now?" Nate kept his voice low as he tightened his fingers around his kid brother's collar and glanced down the rain-darkened Brooklyn alley."
