I like reading the books first. And I pretty much always think they are better than the movie. I still really enjoy most film adaptions though!

I prefer reading the books first. The movies usually leave things out, and/or add stuff that was not even in the book.

ReplyDeleteI do prefer reading the books before the movies, although that almost always leaves me disappointed in the movie because they just can't include everything. Usually, I'm happy with the movie if they just cut some details due to length. But I'm rarely happy if they actually change big details from the book.

ReplyDeleteRead the books before! Because that way you can get all the details, form an opinion - movies usually cut things out.

I prefer to read books before the movies come out because the movies always cut essential scenes and books are amazing <3 We visualize everything for ourselves and don't rely on actors to guide us as readers.
ReplyDeletei love to read the book first movies always leave things out.

Ok, the books are usually WAY better. I haven't seen many books to movie that have impressed me. When my imagination sets the seen it's hard to see another person's interpretation. Thanks.

I MUCH prefer to read the books first, although when I read a book first I tend to be much more critical of the movie! Only on occassion have I seen a movie first and then read the books. When I've done this it's because they were part of a series and I wanted to read the rest in the series. I have to say I almost always feel like the moview was better. Thanks for the giveaway! steph(dot)osborn5802(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteBooks are almost always better than their movie counterparts. That's why I like to watch the movies first, otherwise the movie is ruined for me. It gives me a chance to enjoy the film and view it as a separate piece, so I'm not disappointed. It would be nice to experience the book first, but when I do that I tend to complain throughout the entire movie for straying or cutting out parts; which is not fun for me or anyone who has to listen to me lol. Luckily I'm rarely aware that the movies I'm watching are based off of books/short stories. So when I do finally come across it in book form, it's like I'm experiencing the story for the first time.

I like reading the book first before the movie, because then I actually knows what happens. Most of the times movies tend to stray a lot from the book, which is why only a few book movie adaptions are good.

ReplyDeleteDepends. I read True Women first and the movie really was close. I am glad I saw the Pillars of the Earth movie by Ken Follett first because the book was so detailed and long. Great movie and book.

I almost always enjoy the book better, but I don't always read the book first. Sometimes I like certain elements of a movie better than they were portrayed in the book (like Arwen got a sword and kicked some butt in the Fellowship of the Ring movie, but not in the book). I'm not a traditionalist.

ReplyDeleteI usually read the books first, which may be part of the reason the books are usually better. Also, I think books have more room to tell a story, whereas movies usually stay under a very strict time limit.
