Misc. Finds Monday ~ 4/16/12

Monday, again!  Monday's are actually my slow day.  After the crazy busyness of the week, it is good to just stay home and get some work around the house done and work on Etsy orders.

Here's what caught my eye this past week:

~~~~~
1.  Deanna at Mommy Gaga has some great ideas for easing your child's anxiety about the dentist.  I found this really helpful as I have a little one who is going to be making her first trip to the dentist soon.  She's gone with us and "met" the dentist who is a friend of mine from High School but I remember the look in my oldest daughter's eyes the first she sat in "the chair".
~~~~~

2.  Do you ever deal with burnout?  I know I have.  Andrea at Simple Organized Living recently took a "stay-cation" to deal with hers.  She's asking for ideas on how to cope when burnout looms on the horizon.  Isn't this picture sweet?

~~~~~
3.  I was really struck by how beautiful this Tulip Wreath is.  If you'd like to learn how to make one for yourself, go visit the Polka Dot Chair for a tutorial.
~~~~~

4.  This post about having your own "Family Dictionary" by Shelly at Prairie Moon Quilts is just too funny!  I have a feeling a lot of can relate and have our own "family languages".   I know mine does!

~~~~~
5.  Susan at Between Naps on the Porch has a super cute tutorial on how to make "Marshmallow Flowers" to decorate cupcakes.  I never would have thought how simple and pretty it could be!
6.  First, I have to say how much I love the name of Mary's blog:  Giving Up on Perfect.  It sometimes takes us a while to learn how to do that but it is oh-so necessary.  But, this recipe for "Oreo Pudding Cake" does look perrrrfect!  I already have all the ingredients in my cupboard and can't wait to try it out!
~~~~~

7.  To finish out, I'd like to introduce you to Alexis from "Living the Christian Wifestyle".  She's new to blogging and it would be wonderful if you could go over and give her some blog lovin'!

~~~~~
These are just a few of the great posts I've seen this week.  I can't wait to see what this week has in store!
Happy Monday!
Misc. Finds Monday ~ 4/9/12
Did you have a good weekend?  We here at the Miller Homestead did.  We had a weekend full of spending time in the yard, coloring Easter eggs, hunting eggs and watching the Youth Group at Church perform a very touching skit.
I have some great finds to share with you today.  Quite a few, actually, so I'll get started.
~~~~~

1.  The Quiet Homemaker at The Quiet Home poses a question debating and pondering long hair vs. short as we get older.  I'm currently in the process of growing my hair out of a short tapered bob, so I really found this interesting.

~~~~~
2.  Three really fun announcements were made by Cole at All the Small Stuff  .  A new weekly linky, the Book Club selection for the month of April and........A FLIP-FLOP SWAP!  How fun is that?!?!?  I definitely signed up and you can too!  But hurry!  The deadline is tonight!
3.  In just a little under 2 months, we're going to be packing up a rental van and hitting the road to travel from Pennsylvania to Orlando, Florida.  Yep, we're going to Disney World!  So, when I saw the post 10 Ways to Keep Kids Happy In the Car by Cheri at I Am Momma Hear Me Roar, I was so excited!  There are some excellent ideas that we're definitely going to be using.
~~~~~

4.  My husband and the girls love Rice Krispie Treats.  And what kid doesn't like to lick the beater when their mom bakes a cake?  So when I saw this recipe for Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats at Six Sisters' Stuff, it went straight on the "to try" list.  Doesn't it sound yummy?

~~~~~
5.  This next link is to a beautiful post called "Quietness in the Everyday".  You will be blessed by reading it.
~~~~~

6.  The Tip Junkie has posted a list of 60, yes, 60 homemade baby shower gifts.  There are tons of pictures and tutorials to help you make your next baby gift super special.

~~~~~
7.  Lilacs are my absolute favorite flower!  Maura at Lilac Lane Cottage has a whole post packed full of lilacs.  I can't wait until our lilacs have grown to the size hers are!
~~~~~

8.  Finally, I found a brand new blog to share with you.  Whitney just started her blog, "Cowboy Boots and Books".  Isn't that a cute blog title?!?  She lives in Montana and is in her last year of college to become a Middle School English Teacher.  If you have some time, hop over and give her blog some love!

~~~~~
I've spent too much time on the computer today, and the chores are piling up so I better end for now.
Each week I find such great posts that I want to share and find it hard to set a limit.  But I must!
I hope you enjoyed this week's finds!
Have a great week!
Misc. Finds Monday ~ 4/2/12
It's Monday again and I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I spent a lot of time catching up on sleep.  I spent over 24 hours at the hospital from Wednesday to Thursday waiting on sweet little baby to be born.  I'll post more about that later.  I will say that I love him already!  I can't wait to see him and hold him later on today!
But first, I want to show you some great finds from this past week.  Enjoy!
~~~~~
1.  I would love, love, love to be invited to this Sunday Lunch over at the Rattlebridge Farm.   You really need to go over and see all the beautiful pictures that Michael has taken and shared with us.  I wish I had half her talent.

~~~~~
2.  The way my skin has been acting up lately, especially on my chin area, I was really intrigued by this new skin care system that is now available in the US.  Liz at Hoosier Homemade is a "Wal-Mart Mom" and I'm definitely going to be looking into the "Simple" Products next time I'm there.
~~~~~

3.  Sylvia at The Christian Homekeeper has graciously shared some Spring Cleaning Printables to help us get all that winter dust and clutter under control.  I know my house definitely needs some TLC.  Now I need to find the time to work on it.

~~~~~
4.  This next great find is absolutely amazing!!!!  I really hope you to take the time to listen and watch this 7 minute video.  I heard about Jonathan and Charlotte on KLOVE this past week and came straight to the computer to hear their entire audition song.  Again, AMAZING!  Be prepared for goosebumps.
~~~~~

5.  Lori from A Bee In My Bonnet has shared a tutorial for a super cute Apron Bottle Cover.  She includes step-by-step directions and lots of pictures.  The little pocket for the straw just KILLS me!  Too sweet!

~~~~~
6.  I just joined Weight Watchers online and found an incredibly helpful guide of Plan Friendly Foods to use when making your grocery list.  They call it "The ultimate weight loss grocery list".  I'll let you know how it goes!
7.  The great thing about the Weight Watchers diet is that I can still eat anything I want, I just have to stay under a certain amount of "points" each day.  It is a good thing because I just have to be able to induldge my sweet tooth every now and then (more like every day).  This recipe from Alexandra at Talking Dollars and Cents will definitely be one of those indulgences.  Say hello to Fudgy Chocolate Chip Muffins.  Hello, my lovelies!  I can't wait to meet you!
Well, that does it for this week.  I hope you've enjoyed these finds as much as I did.  Now, I have a baby to go spoil!
Have a great Monday!
Misc. Finds Monday ~ 3/26/12
I decided to start something new here on my little ol' blog.  Through the week, I'm going to keep track of some of my favorite posts I've seen in blogland and then feature them.
I'm doing this for me and you :)  You'll get to see lots of great stuff and I'll be able to reference the posts for future use instead of trying to print everything off and then lose track of those pages.  It will all be right here :)
So here goes!
~~~~

1.  Gooseberry Patch has released a new cookbook called "Simple Shortcut Recipes".  I think that sounds awesome!  You can go over to Mommy's Kitchen to enter to win a copy!  That's even awesomer!

~~~~~
2.  Over at SAHM of Etsy they featured this yummy looking "Cinnamon Chip Coffee Cake".  Defitely going on the "to-try" list for me!  Whatta you think?
~~~~~~

3.  When I saw the title of this next featured post I thought "This is going to be good and settled in to read, be entertained and learn a few things.  "10 Things a Husband Needs to Know About His Wife" by Jazmine @ Above Rubies.  What would you put on that list?

~~~~~
4.  This next idea by Ashley at Lil Blue Boo is so neat.  Man, why didn't I think of this????  She recently sent out 10 Journals to travel the world.  How cool is that.  I'm going to be watching this project with interest.
~~~~~

5.  Heather @ Just Lovely Things is co-hosting a series called "The Beauty Files:  Share the Beauty".  This week she had lots of tips and tricks to give you a head full of healthy hair.  I know I've started drinking more water and taking my vitamins more reguarly!
~~~~~
6.  This next post not only caught my eye because it is about a bright pop of pink but it also is a  Crochet-A-Long!  Yay, for CAL's.  They are so much fun.  Vickie Howell has shared her pattern for "A Springtime Scarf" with anyone who would like to create it.
~~~~~

7.  I just had to feature this recipe post because the name just Cracks-Me-Up!!!  Monster Mama has shared a recipe for "Slutty Brownies".  What is a Slutty Brownie, you might ask?  Go on over and find out.  I have a feeling I'll be doing a post of my own about Slutty Brownies :)

8.  Last, but now least, is a post that just made me go:   "Ahhh, how sweet is that!"  This "American Beauty Rose Pincushion" at (un)Deniably Domestic  fed my love of tea cups and sewing.  I had to fight the urge to go thrifting and find the perfect cup for my own pincushion right there and then.  I simply couldn't use any of the hundreds that I have in my china cabinet:)
~~~~
Well, that wraps up my Misc. Finds Monday for this week.  I hope you've enjoyed these features and maybe gotten a few ideas you'd like to hang onto yourself.
I'll be doing more blogland cruising this week to see what great posts to feature next week.  If you have a post that you think I would like (but might miss)  please leave a link in the comments.  I'd love to see what you're working on!
Have a great Monday!
