Hello Monday...er...Tuesday ~ 7/2/2024

It has been a rough couple of weeks and I haven't felt much like posting, but I'm still here and kicking :)  I had to really stop and think what day of the week it was today!  I'm only a day late for Hello Monday so I thought I'd jump on here and join in.

First, I guess I want to mention that I'm switching jobs.  I've decided that going from being a SAHM to working full-time just wasn't working for me.  I needed something part time and more flexible, so I'm taking a leap and trying something completely different for me.  My orientation is Friday at my new job so I'd appreciate all the prayers and well wishes you'd like to give me!

In other news...I've been working on getting our Family Room organized and have come to the realization that the bins and totes that are sitting in the corner of the room and along the wall aren't going anywhere.  We've decided to make the rather large, messy Family Room a bit smaller by building a partition wall to create a VERY large walk-in closet for storage.

We're really hoping this will make things easier to organize and more aesthetically pleasing.  So we're going to be rearranging lots of furniture, etc., in the next week or two.  I really should take some before and after pictures of our progress.

Summer is in full swing.  I hope everyone fared well here in the heatwave that was in the USA.  Thankfully the temperatures have gone down a bit or we're just getting used to the heat.  Unfortunately, the air conditioner we had in our bedroom has given up the ghost.  It was rather old so we weren't totally surprised.  We have another one ordered but it won't arrive until July 11th or 12th.  We're making due with fans until then.  I'm sure we'll be perfectly fine.

Tonight is the hubby's last night of work for the week.  Wall building starts tomorrow.

I'll leave you for today with this song that has resonated with both the hubby and myself lately.  Enjoy :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead :)

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 2/12/2024

Hello, and Happy Monday!

I'm writing this post on Sunday evening, as I usually do.  If you are reading this on Monday, I'm at WORK!  The day has finally arrived and I'm nervous AND excited!

My new boss, Karen, called me on Friday to let me know what my Monday will look like.  I have orientation all morning starting at 8am.  At noon, Karen and Debbie (my supervisor) will meet me outside the auditorium and take me to lunch.  I thought this a super nice gesture!  The afternoon will be spent getting all my computer access, etc. situated.  Karen also mentioned a training on infectious disease that I will be taking, so my first day or two will be spent getting all that completed so that I can dive into my regular work duties.

I'm not sure what my blogging schedule is going to look like as my routines change.  I hope to still post on Sunday/Monday and at least my Tea Time post.  I'm not sure what day I'll be posting Tea Time.  I'll have to see how my week goes.  Wish me luck!

Let's get on with the post ;)

The weather outside is:

I don't know why the site that I usually get my forecast from is still showing the 7 day forecast from Friday on.  Oh well, you can see that Friday and Saturday were absolutely beautiful days.  Friday we had sunshine and I think we ended up with a high of 63F.  That is crazy for my area in the middle of February!  Monday night we are looking at weather that is a bit more seasonal although they are currently backing off on the amount of snow they think we'll get.  Personally, I'm fine with not getting ANY more snow this winter.  I don't mind the cold, but I hate driving in nasty weather.

On today's to-do list:

~My main to-do today is waking up to my alarm and getting out the door on time.  I'm seriously worried that I'm going to sleep through my alarm on my first day at my new job.  That is IF I can even sleep!

Happening this week:

~Thankfully, this week is fairly quiet.  I do have Ladies Bible Study and Potluck on Tuesday evening.  It is always the second Tuesday of the month.

~We don't really have plans for Valentine's Day.  I haven't even gotten the hubby a card or gift yet!  Hopefully I'll get a chance to before Wednesday.

~I've been busy prepping for my vendor show in March.  I hope to continue to craft a bit each evening but I'll write more about that in the crafting prompt.

Currently reading:

I haven't made any progress on "Small Town Shepherd" by Nala Henkel Aislinn.  I've created a daily schedule that does include reading time before bed, but I don't know.  Again, I'll have to see how the day/week goes.

Watching:

Farmer Wants a Wife

Hallmark - Jane Austen inspired movies

Super Bowl

Youtube videos from a few favorites

On the menu today:

Chili and Corn Bread

In the Craft Basket:

I needed something different to work on, so I took some of my miscellaneous granny squares and made some tote bags.  I also found a free pattern on ravelry.com for a Sunburst Granny Square Tote.  Laken picked out a skein of yarn for me to create it with.  The yarn was in my stash and is Red Heart Super Saver Stripes in "Flamenco".  I have the center of the sunbursts made and started working on the border round in "Aran".  I actually got a picture of my progress but it is very dark.  I hope you don't mind the poor lighting!

Don't mind my papers in the foreground!  I need to do some filing...

Bible Verse

"The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my savior, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."  Psalm 18:2

Have a great week!

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 7/18/2022

Hello, and Happy Monday!

And...another two weeks have gone by since I've updated the blog...

I mentioned in my last post that I've been job hunting.  Not only has this taken up my time but also my mind has been focused on things of that nature rather than the blog.

I don't know what direction this will take me in the future but I sure am glad that I know the ONE who holds that future!

For now, lets get on with being a Happy Homemaker :)

The weather outside is:

We had some pretty heavy rains today (Sunday) but I guess we need it.  This week is looking spectacular!

On today's to-do list:

I'm working on tweaking my entire routine as changes are coming in my life but for today we have a meeting with Laken's principal about the upcoming year.  He offered to get her schedule for her and give her a tour of the building as she is feeling a bit nervous about going back to school after being in cyber school for most of last school year.  I thought it was very kind of him to offer his time to take us on a personal tour.

Happening this week:

Other than the school meeting the rest of the week should be pretty "normal" with nothing out of the ordinary scheduled.

I do have a few things around the house that I'd like to get situated before going back into the workforce, so we'll probably be working on them as time allows.

Currently reading:

I have been reading nothing.  I just can't get my mind into a reading mode.

Watching:

I also haven't been watching TV.  Laken and the hubby watched the latest Disney "Zombies" movie last night but I wasn't feeling it so I went to bed.

Listening to:

Mostly KLOVE and The Message with a bit of The Highway thrown in for variety.

On the menu today:

Pork Chops, Homemade French Fries, Peas, Apples

In the Craft Basket:

I haven't picked up anything crafty in weeks!  I need to get Sunny Blue Hawaii 2 back off the shelf and work on it here and there.  I just haven't had much free time to sit down and work on it.

Friday we made the trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.  Left to right are:  Dad, Mom, the hubby, Laken.  (I was taking the picture :)

Memory Verse

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sigh, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer."

Psalm 19:14

Have a great Monday!
