Make it Monday ~ Unforgettable Granny Cowl ~ 11/2/15

I picked up 2 skeins of this Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable in Stained Glass because I thought the colors were beeaauuttiful!  I didn't really have a project in mind for it but that didn't stop me.  hehe

I did some searching through the patterns on Ravelry and came across this Granny Square Cowl by Crocheting with Raymond.  I love me some granny squares and thought the colors of the yarn would work up beautifully in granny squares.

I wasn't wrong!  I love how the squares turned out.  So pretty!  My daughter, Kaylee, is my model :)

I made it 7 squares of 8 rounds so that it would be long enough to wrap around the neck or let hang free.

I crocheted the edging as suggested in the pattern and love how it turned out.

However, I did NOT love this yarn.  I loved the color and the color changes but the texture was hard to work with.  It was thinner than I'm used to and was easily knotted.  I don't think I'll be buying any more of this yarn.

I WILL be making more Granny Square Cowls though :)

Make it Monday ~ Katniss Cowl ~ 10/26/15

I have had this Katniss Cowl in my Ravelry queue for about a year and finally decided to give it a go.  You can find the pattern HERE.  The pattern actually is much larger than I made mine.

I only completed about 1/3 of the pattern.  It was already getting very heavy so I didn't continue on with the repeats.  (Not to mention my hands were getting tired from using a large hook.)

The pattern called for a super bulky yarn.  Instead I used two strands of worsted weight in Red Heart Super Saver "Rouge".  I know it isn't a very "Katniss" color but I had it on hand.

I love how the textures turned out and would someday like to make the complete pattern!

Have you made a Katniss Cowl?  I'd love to see your creations :)

Make it Monday ~ Claire's Outlander Cowl ~ 10/19/15

When I saw this pattern for Claire's Outlander Cowl, I immediately got the yarn to make it!  You can find the pattern HERE.

I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in "Sequoia".

My dear daughter Kaylee was my model.  The cowl can be worn multiple ways but all are very snuggly and warm.  We had snow here this weekend and this Cowl kept me nice and warm when we went to a corn maze.

I especially liked how quick this pattern worked up.  It was so much fun to create!

If you are a fan of cowls or Outlander, you've got to give this pattern a try :)
