My book shelves are growing. My piles are expanding. My list is getting longer. I just love books! I can't resist.
I was taught to share though. So to make my Mama proud I'll be giving away a book from my shelf :

To enter the giveaway:
*Mandatory- Leave a comment telling me : Do you keep books after you've read them, or do you pass them on? What makes a book a "keeper" for you?
*Extra- Follow my blog and leave a second comment telling me that you do :)
I love to share my favorite books with friends. If they would want to keep them, that would be fine with me. Since most of my reads are children's books, I have a whole collection built for my son's children. Funny thing is, my son is just 9 years old! I still have many more years to collect books for my grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteI follow you through GFC (Rhonda P.) Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI keep my favorites, and I pass on others to my younger cousins, ones that I think they'd like. I love sharing my books as much as reading them.
ReplyDeleteFollowing via GFC, same name as comment. :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to keep books. I have a really difficult time throwing one away, even if I didn't like it that much. If I know for certain that I will never read it again, then I will pass it on.
ReplyDeleteI usually keep books after I read them, but sometimes I share them or clean out my bookshelf and give some away just to get more space. I find I read more on my Kindle now than physical books just since it's easier to carry around with me, so I've given away more books the last year since I don't have space.
ReplyDeleteI'm one who normally doesn't re-read a book anyway because I remember too many of the details to make it enjoyable to read again. Therefore, most of the time I only keep classics or books I think my daughters will enjoy as they grow up instead of books I think I'll read again.
I follow through GFC. Michelle Hodge. Thanks again for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI keep the ones I truly love, but I do my best to offer them up to others as well. The ones I really love I'd offer to a friend to borrow :)

If I really like a book I keep it for myself and it becomes a fixture on my book shelf and since I usually like everything I read, this means most I keep. However, I like to share my favorites with people as well so I've been known to buy two copies of my favorites so that I can share the second copy with others! A book becomes a keeper pretty much if I have it in my hands because I love them that much and I'm a nerd like that, but I'm ok with it.

If they are really good I pass them on to different family members. We are all avid readers and don't always have the money to buy books, plus we all know what the others like so each time a book comes our way it is awesome.
ReplyDeleteA book is a "keeper" if it is unique, well written, and tells a story that changes how I look at life.
I am following you via GFC my username is Lisa DeGraaf :) I really look forward to reading more from your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love books and it's hard to part with any but the ones that I really don't like.

ReplyDeleteI try to pass books on - actually my SIL swap books all the time or I take them to my local used book store to trade for others.

I keep my poetry books and a jsut a few that really spoke to me. But now that I have to move into a smaller home, I am even more inclined to not keep them. I have a special friend at the dermatologist who I give a book each week. Also I mail light weight favorites to a friend in the U.K. and others to a friend in California. When I met people, I try to find out if they are readers and what they like to read. I love to share. It is great to see people's eyes light up when you give them a book.
ReplyDeleteCarolNWong(at)aol(dot)com
I share my books after I am done reading them. I keep some classics.

I usually keep my books after I read them. Since I usually buy about 100 books a year, I have quite a library. I do enjoy sharing my book with family, friends, and book club members. I love to read and want to pass that love on.
ReplyDelete6186pep(at)msn(dot)com
I am the reason for the downfall of many forests, unfortunately. I have now run out of room to keep all my books, and have begun thinning the crowd. I keep those that moved me profoundly, or that I want to pass on to my children and grandchildren, and for the rest, I give them away, or use PaperbackSwap.
ReplyDeleteI usually pass them on --- otherwise I would be buried in books. The one exception is author signed books --- I do keep these.

Otherwise, I pass them on to friends or trade them at paperbackswap.

ReplyDeleteI keep almost all my books! I don't like giving them away, because I usually buy them only when I know they're really good. If I receive one as a gift, and I don't like it that much, I pass it on, because if I don't like it, there's always someone else who will.
