When I found out that I was pregnant with my second child almost 11 years ago, the doctor told me that her due date was February 17th.
I had a feeling she would be early (like my first was) so I was thinking...maybe Valentine's Day. Any day in February was good for me (lol) except for Groundhog's Day! I just didn't want my little one to be born on the day we wait for a Groundhog to see (or not see) his shadow.
As the way of the world goes, guess what day she came?
Yep! Groundhog's Day!
I've come to embrace the thought of having a groundhog baby and she loves the fact that we get up early to watch the live broadcast of the Groundhog's prediction.
On her actual birthday, Thursday, we sang "Happy Birthday" to her using her favorite sugar cookies with icing. Her Daddy had to work evening shift and we wanted the family to be together for her "actual" celebration.
We celebrated her birthday full-out on Saturday.
It started with lunch at Cracker Barrel. Uncle Dan's treat. Laken's choice :)
Later that evening my little baker helped make her cake. She chose a vanilla double layer cake with light purple icing.
Laken LOVES to bake and wants to own a bakery someday. She had so much fun putting this cake together :)
She also loved that we celebrated her birthday TWICE!
Happy 10th Birthday, Apple Dumpling!
