Sewing Saturday ~ 11/27/2021

I've decided to start featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.

First of all, this week, I'm super excited that the hubby bought me a new sewing machine for Christmas!  Of course, I can't wait until then to use it though :)

 It is a Singer Patchwork and we got it for over 50% off!

I love the extender so much!  I can already tell a big difference while sewing.  It also came with 10 or 11 feet (most of which I don't know what they're for.) including a quarter inch foot that I'll be putting to good use while piecing quilt tops.

Meanwhile, between hand quilting projects, I decided to drag out a crochet WIP from last Winter to work on while watching TV and relaxing.

This is the Linen Afghan that I started for one of the hubby's co-workers, Stacey.  She wanted a solid cream afghan and I was happy to make her one.  It has taken me a bit longer than anticipated but I'm almost there!

I only have 1.5 rounds left of the border to crochet!  I'm hoping to finish it off this weekend and have the hubby deliver it to Stacey next week.

Hopefully, next weekend I'll be able to feature it as a finished project ;)

What project are you working on this weekend?

The Good Stuff ~ Kaylee and Shawn's Afghan ~ 9/16/2021

~~~~~~~~
I am so excited to finally be able to post that I have FINISHED Kaylee and Shawn's Wedding Afghan only one whole month late!   :) :) :)
I fully intended to gift it to them at Kaylee's Bridal Shower but life got in the way.  :(
Here are some close-up pictures for the readers who like to see the details :)
This following picture is a bit wonky, as I took the picture with my phone and it is sideways.  (I couldn't figure out how to "quickly" rotate it. )
The pups were also in my way a bit and Lilah moves for no one!
So, finishing this afghan up has me very thankful this week.  I hope it brings a smile to Kaylee and Shawn's face(s)!
W
hat has you thankful/smiling/exited this week?  Tell me all the good stuff!
{Shop Updates} ~ 10/18/19
https://www.etsy.com/shop/collettakay
I thought I'd create a post showing you some of the new items in my shop:  Colletta's Kitchen Sink .
First, I'd like to mention that there are still a few APRONS left in my shop.  I've marked them down to $14 with free shipping.  (In fact everything in my shop has free shipping!!!)  I'll also be adding some Christmas aprons as soon as I get time to sit down at my sewing machine :)
Next, I'd like to show an example of the baby blankets/afghans that I've made for the shop.  This blanket is a Dr. Seuss inspired blanket.  I love the red and turquoise together!  I have other color combinations in my shop and can also make CUSTOM blankets in the colors of your choice.
Finally, I want to show you what I've been working on lately.  My newest items are Prayer Shawls. I've made an all white Bridal/Prayer Shawl with a granny stitch as well as some textured Prayer Shawls in other colors.  Again, I offer a CUSTOM listing to make this item in any color you would desire.  I'm considering creating a Striped Prayer Shawl in multiple colors.  I just need to find the time :)
Make It Monday ~ Aliviah's Christmas Afghan
At my Church we have a "Guardian Angel" Program.  The adults sign up to be a "Guardian Angel" to a child in the Church, the "Angel".  The purpose is mainly to pray for your Angel throughout the school year and to give them secret gifts upon occasion.  It is kinda like a Secret Sister but with adults and children.
This year my Angel is Aliviah, the sweetest little girl.  (shh... don't tell her I'm her Guardian Angel)
I decided that I wanted to crochet Aliviah an afghan for Christmas.  So I did :)
I found the sweetest yarn to use for such a sweet little girl.  Red Heart Candy Fair Isle, a variegated yarn.
 I went with my go-to granny squares and bordered with White.
I crocheted a scalloped edge to give it a little bit more girly finish.
I packaged the afghan up and made sure that she received it.  Each stitch was crocheted with love, thoughts and prayers.
Work In Progress ~ 9/4/18
My cousin is having a Baby Shower on September 22nd.  Just a few short weeks away!
I can't make it to the Shower as I've already RSVP'd to another cousin's Wedding that very same day!  So, I decided to make a baby blanket to send along with my aunt to the Baby Shower.
That means, I must get to work on Ian's Baby Afghan!  (BTW, the baby is to be named Ian :)
My color theme is totally derived from the Baby Shower invitation.  Blue, gray and white.
I decided to go with the pattern "Beautiful Shells" as it works up quickly and I love how the pattern looks.  So easy to work on while watching TV.
I hope to have much more progress to show you next week!
Work in Progress ~ 5/9/18
I mentioned the other week that I'm working on an afghan for my cousin's bride-to-be, Ashley.  I've only met her once, but she is very friendly and plays a mean game of Corn Hole.
The Bridal Shower is July 2nd and I have a lot of work to get done by then.
Here's my progress so far:
Each row has 9 squares, therefore, I have 31 squares completed out of 90!  I better get moving!
I'm crocheting simple granny squares and joining them with a single crochet stitch.
Here's my "helper", Star.  I haven't decided if she more of a hindrance than a help, but she keeps me company while crocheting on the deck.
Speaking of crocheting on the deck, here is my little "Nook".  I absolutely love my little deck with my swing and patio table and chairs!
 Here's my little workplace.
The deck gets full sun in the afternoon, so the umbrella is a definite need.
 So, back to the Ashley's Afghan.  There will be 10 rows of 9 squares and then borders depending on what yarn I have left.  There are a variety of colors and I love it!  I hope I can give it up come July!
I'm really enjoying working on this afghan.  Some people think Granny Squares are old-fashioned, but I love making them and think it is so relaxing.  The only bad thing about Granny Squares are tying in the ends, but I'm trying to be good and am tying in ends after each row and then connecting them.
I'll be keeping you updated on my progress.
Make it Monday ~ Bree's Granny Stripe Complete! ~ 9/14/15
As mention in THIS POST, Bree is Kaylee's friend who picked the following colors for a Granny Stripe Afghan.
I love how a basket full of yarn skeins can be turned into anything.
The repetitive colors did get a bit much after a while so I took a break and worked on African Flowers before getting back to this and getting it DONE!
I made a simple granny stripe edging in red to finish it off.
Don't you just love sitting back and looking at a finished project that you know will be loved by someone special?
Please leave me a comment with a link so I can return the visit!!
