Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 1/25/2021

Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, and Happy Monday!
The weather outside is:
VERY cold!  And we're supposed to get snow accumulation today and throughout the week.  I hate the thought of Kaylee and the Hubby driving in bad weather to and from work :(
On today's to-do list:
I need to get groceries.  I was going to go Saturday evening but just didn't feel like fighting the crowds.  Hopefully I can get to the store and back before the weather gets too bad!  Kaylee is going to go with me.  She has decided that she wants to be in charge of cooking dinner on Saturdays!  See the menu below :)
Happening this week:
Other than the normal (groceries, laundry, housework), Laken has a Dentist appointment.  She was supposed to go last week when the rest of us did, but it was her first week back in school and I didn't want to take her out of school.  This week she is on virtual, so we can easily slip down to the dentist without it effecting her work.
Currently reading:
I read two, yes two, books last week!  "Wyatt" by Susan May Warren and  "The Loneliest Cottage" by Melissa Storm.  That is a record for me lately.  Currently, I'm reading "Panning for Love" by Meg Cross Wenig.
On the TV:
I didn't really watch anything this week.  I have lots to catch up on!  It is all DVR'd.
Listening to:
I featured  "Wake Up Sleeper" by Austin French this week on Songs on Sunday.
On the menu week:
Monday ~ Weiner Winks, homemade fries
Tuesday ~ Meatloaf, mashed potatoes
Wednesday ~ Fish, homemade mac-n-cheese
Thursday ~  Chicken Pot Pie
Friday ~ Creamed Chipped Beef on toast
Saturday ~ Southwestern Casserole
Sunday ~ Potluck at Church
In the Craft Basket:
I decided to make the "Linen" afghan in the Beautiful Shells pattern.  It is going to take me a while...
Memory Verse
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."  Galatians 6:9 NIV
Have a great Monday!
I'd love for you to stop by and give THE SHOP some love!
  1. Thank you;I did get a copy of "The Loneliest Cottage" by Melissa Storm. I hope you can get your grocery shopping done before the snow arrives. It's horrible to become stuck in the house with cabin fever and no food.
    1. The food is bought and put away! I hate putting the groceries away. Probably my least favorite part of the whole process...
  2. Oh I hope you don't get too snowed in and that you can get your shopping done before it comes! Your menu for the week looks like a fun and happy menu! I don't really plan my meals in advance like that and maybe I should. My menu plan is asking my hubby in the morning what do you want for supper so I know what to get out of the freezer, or should we go to the store and pick up some food to cook? We often eat leftovers after cooking something big one day, like I bake chicken thighs in the oven (boneless skinless usually) and then I can make the leftovers into a chicken pot pie or something else the next day. Same with meatloaf, we have meat loaf grilled sandwiches the next day with cheese. But we are retired and we can do things simpler if we want to. some days we have a bigger lunch so we have a light supper. What are "wiener winks"? Just wondering... Oh, and I haven't had Creamed Chipped beef on toast in so many years, since I left home over 51 years ago I guess. I don't think I've ever made it. Do you buy the canned chipped beef? It's been so long I forget what to do, but I always loved it when my mother made it. Do you have a recipe? Have a blessed day.
    1. Weiner Winks are hotdogs with a slice of cheese either rolled in crescent tolls or bread and then baked. Super easy. I buy the dried beef and the break it into tiny pieces and put it in a milk gravy (??) Again very easy. My husband loves it as his mother used to make it all the time :) Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment!
  3. Get the food before getting snowed in, the rest can be done later on.
    I hate it too when the kids have to be on the road and it's snowing. Had to go out last friday (luckily not far away) and roads were winter conditions,uggggg!
    I had seen that you read 2 books last week and then the next item was tv shows... so I was like you had time to watch tv too?? haha of course you didn't ... we run out of time!!
    Have a great week
  4. Good luck with the shopping. I hate shopping on the weekends and fighting the grounds. I find Tuesday mornings are pretty slow around here. We have freezing rain/snow coming today and tomorrow. I think they're calling for more next weekend.
    Hope you have a wonderful week!
    1. Monday mornings are usually pretty slow at the grocery store. My daughter actually called off of work tonight due to impending bad weather. One less worry for me! Thanks for stopping by :)
  5. I do love a good snowstorm but only if I'm not driving in it or worried about my family being out in it as well. Hope you got all your shopping done. Have a great week!
  6. I hope you got your errands done before there was any serious weather. I LOVE winter AND snow, but hate having to travel far in it. Sounds like good books. I've been having trouble finishing the one I'm reading - not even sure why. I hope the rest of your week is GREAT!
