"The Girl in the Gatehouse" by Julie Klassen
The old gatehouse holds secrets of its own. Can Mariah and Captain Bryant uncover them before the cunning heir to the estate buries them forever?
Julie Klassen has become one of my favorite authors. I have read all her books and each one is thorougly researched and written so well, that I usually find myself staying up until the wee hours of the morning to finish reading it.
This book containted so many aspects that make a book a great read. Mystery, romance, jilted love, family rifts, war heros, social classs strife, a crazy man walking on the roof of the town's "poorhouse". All very, very interesting.
The characters were very real and showed human frailties, mistakes, consequences and forgiveness.
I really, really liked this book and wish that I could go visit the gatehouse. The picture on the front of the book is beautiful.
I'm looking forward to this author's next book!
