WIP Wednesday ~ 1/17/2024

I thought I'd do a weekly post listing my current crafty works-in-progress (WIP).

~~~~~~~
As of the moment, I have a Valentine Bear started that I'm not sure if I'm going to finish or not...  I'm so disenchanted with it that I didn't even bother to take a picture!
Other than that, my only WIP is a Think Pink Prayer Shawl for my Etsy shop.  I'm almost halfway finished with it at this point and would really like to complete it this week as I didn't even touch it last week.  The pattern is based on Attic 24's cozy stripe blanket that I've modified.
I have been creating all week and finished quite a few items but you'll have to come back for Finish Friday to see what I've completed  :)
What are you working on?  How many WIPs do you currently have?
Work In Progress ~ Cheers! ~ 1/11/20
I decided to jump into some crochet alongs but I didn't want to go out and buy new yarn (well not really that I didn't want to but that I SHOULDN'T buy new yarn :).  I'm using up some skeins leftover from various projects so this will be a "Scrappy CAL".
The first (January Main) block of Ravelry's BAMCAL 2020 is called "Cheers!" and was designed by Polly Plum who is a marvelous pattern writer!  The pattern says that it is "Advanced" and I had no problem whatsoever following along.
Do you like the pop of red?  I'm not quite sure about it but the hubby said he likes it.
I'm going to add a round of white to every block and crochet them together with the red (probably) to tie them all together.  Here it is finished off:
Well, finished off except for tying in all those ends.  I'll get around to it sometime :)
The block turned out to be 12.5" before the border rounds.  Polly Plum created a new stitch that she called the Treble W Stitch (Tr-W) which is tr, ch1, tr, ch1, tr.  It was fun to learn :)
I was pleased with how it turned out!
Are you participating in any crochet alongs (CALs)?  What are you working on?
Work In Progress ~ 12/7/19
Time to start a new project!  This will be Winter 2020 Project #1 :)
Once again, I'm using RH Ombre but this time in Anemone, Anthracite and Deep Teal.  I am loving these colors together!
I'm crocheting granny squares using Anemone and Deep Teal and bordering them with the Anthracite.  I decided to do a granny square afghan because they are very relaxing and I can crochet away while watching TV without the concentration needed when crocheting from a pattern.
I do have to deal with all those pesky ends that need to be tied in though :)
The good thing with doing solid squares is that there aren't TOO many ends.  I do love a little pile of cut ends, don't you?  hehe
I also love when the blocks are nice and tied off in a pile.  Even better is when they are crocheted together into rows!  Two rows down, 5 more to go!
I've decided that I'm going to be gifting this afghan to Shawn's Mom, Linda.  Shawn is Kaylee's boyfriend of going on 5 years now!  (Wow, the time has flown!)  Linda has heart problems for being such a young woman.  As I'm crocheting this blanket, I will be praying for Linda.  She is such a sweet lady and has raised an amazing young man.
I think I'll just be calling this afghan "Linda's Prayer Blanket".   She doesn't know that I'm making it so I hope she likes the colors!
Work in Progress / Finish Off ~ Laken's Ombre Afghan ~ 11/30/19
Here is Laken's Ombre Afghan hot off the hook!  I mean seriously, I just finished it in time to write this post to publish by midnight!
First, I wanted to show you a picture of the finished afghan with the recipient, Laken :)  She picked out the yarn and watched me throughout the year-long process of making the blanket.
Of course, I didn't work on it constantly from start to finish.  I worked on MANY other projects before finally picking it up as a WIP from my project pile.
The colors are from the Red Heart's Ombre line as well as Soft White for the bordering.
I finished off the blocks with a simple border followed by a final row of scalloped edging.
My original plan was to make it 5X5 but I decided it was plenty big enough at 3X5 with bordering.  I used some of my favorite CAL blocks from Ravelry and some solid blocks to set them off.
On to the next project!  What are you working on?
Work In Progress ~ 11/23/19
 I've been so busy lately working on items to list in my etsy shop that I've neglected a few "WIP"s.  I decided to pick up Laken's Ombre Afghan to work on and possibly finish sometime soon!
I apologize for the pictures. Tthe lighting wasn't very good.  Such a dreary day...
Here it is in a ball...
Here it is all laid out...  The floral blocks are blocks I made in the beginning of the year when I when trying to keep up with a Block-a-Week Crochet Along.  The "Solid" blocks are granny squares made out of RH Ombre yarn in Spearmint, Coral Reef, and Violet.
I love the block shown below!  It was probably my favorite :)
I'm currently working on the border using the Coral Reef color.
I finished up the Coral Reef border and am now going to be working on the Violet, Spearmint and Soft White border rows with a scalloped edging to finish it off.
 I'm hoping to be finished with this blanket/afghan by the beginning of the week and move on to my next project.
What are you working on?
