15 Minutes to Stitch ~ Friendship Quilt Block Swap ~ 1/15/2023

One of my "plans" for 2023 is to spend 15 minutes a day stitching.  That might entail sewing, quilting, crocheting anything else I might come up with.  I'll be joining in with Kate @ Life in Pieces.

~~~~~~~~~~~
I didn't have much time this week to stitch as I was away from home every evening and fell into bed when I got home.
I did however get my Friendship Swap fabric sent out and have started to receive some pattern and fabrics in the mail from my swap partners.  I have Monday off of work so I plan on spending most of the day making quilt blocks.  I'm so excited to get my sewing machine dusted off.
Here are the contents of the packages I've received so far:
I did manage to get some pictures of Sunny Blue Hawaii progress.  I have 23/63 granny squares completed.  I actually plan on crocheting some more after I post this while we have a Family Movie Night.  So hopefully I'll have more to show next week.
Look at all these ends I have to sew in!  I don't mind sewing in ends but I have to be in the "mood" for it.  Which I'm not.   :)
So next week, I'm hoping to have some Friendship Swap quilt blocks to show you and some more Sunny Blue Hawaii 2.
What are you stitching this week?
15 Minutes to Stitch ~ 1/1/2023 ~Before Pictures!
One of my "plans" for 2023 is to spend 15 minutes a day stitching.  That might entail sewing, quilting, crocheting anything else I might come up with.  I'll be joining in with Kate @ Life in Pieces.
~~~~~~~~~~~

I decided for this first week of 2023 that it would probably be a good idea to actually spend some time organizing my crafting area and see just what projects I have on the go (aka WIPS).  I have Monday, January 2nd, off work for the New Year holiday, so I'm hoping to make this my main priority for the day.

I thought it might be fun to show some BEFORE pictures of my area. Now, keep in mind that I haven't hardly touched  this area in the past 5 months or so except to pile stuff up!  Be gentle!

For the actual 15 minutes of stitching this week, I'm going to be working on Sunny Blue Hawaii 2.  Before this weekend, I haven't even touched it since early summer.  The yellow and teal colors will help perk up these dark, dreary days of winter.  You can go HERE to see my last post about Sunny Blue Hawaii 2.

Next week I hope to show you a nicely organized area, have a list of my current WIPS and show you progress that I've made on my stitching.

What are you stitching this week?

Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 6/6/2022

Hello, and Happy Monday!

The weather outside is:

Another gorgeous week ahead :)

On today's to-do list:

We had a busy weekend full of great family time.  That means not much got done around the house.  I'll be doing my normal weekly cleaning or as the Fly Lady calls it "Home Blessing" :)

Happening this week:

Thursday is the hubby's 54th birthday!  He took Friday off work so we'll probably be going to see the new Jurassic World movie that comes out that same day.  First, though, I need to watch the 2nd movie of the Jurassic World series or I'll probably be lost!

Next week is Church Camp, so I don't know how much I'll be posting next week.  I'm helping with the Youth and also with the cooking.  I'm going to be busy, busy, busy!

Currently reading:

"The Rose Garden" by Susanna Kearsley is the Kindred Readers Book Club selection for July.  I started reading last week but didn't get very far yet.  I'm enjoying it but I'm finding that I am reading slower when I'm trying to come up with discussion questions.  I'm hoping to finish up before Church Camp.

Watching:

We watched "The Lost City" with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum.  It was hilarious!  I laughed out loud many times.  I think we watched it on Paramount.

I set up y DVR to record a show on HGTV called something along the lines of "The Beach Project" (????).  I'm looking forward to watching it soon.

Listening to:

This week for "Songs on Sunday" I featured "The Healing" by Blanca and Dante Bowe.  I hope you'll check it out :)

On the menu today:

Creamed Chipped Beef, Biscuits

In the Craft Basket:

I've been working on Sunny Blue Hawaii 2 and have made some progress.  I have two rows all tied off and crocheted together.  Only 49 squares to go!  Whooohooo :)

Memory Verse

"Rejoice in the LORD always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The LORD is near.  Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

Have a great Monday!

Sewing Saturday ~ Advice Needed!!! ~ 6/4/2022

I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.

~~~~~~~~
I've been working on "Sunny Blue Hawaii 2" (SBH2) lately.
To see my first post about this afghan CLICK HERE!
Before I go any farther with sewing squares together, I need to decide whether to make the final afghan 6 squares X 8 squares  (6X8) or 7 squares X 9 squares (7X9) or even 7 squares by 10 squares (7X10).
The length isn't as important right now as the width is.
Above is what the main body would look like with 6 squares.  It just doesn't look quite right to me.  It doesn't seem wide enough even though I know I'll be adding borders.
Here you can see what it would look like with 7 squares across.  (Sorry it is tilted so far but that is the only way I could get the whole width in the picture.)
So what do you think?
6 OR 7 squares across????
Your opinion means a great deal to me and I would love your advice :)
Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 5/23/2022
Hello, and Happy Monday!
The weather outside is:
It was gorgeously hot this weekend!  At the time I'm writing this 3pm-ish on Sunday, we're supposed to get a thunderstorm this evening.  After the thunderstorm, the temperatures are supposed to be more seasonably cool but not TOO cool.  Just right!
On today's to-do list:
My regular list of dailies and cleaning.  I took last week off from exercise for no reason what-so-ever, so I want to work on getting back into that.
Happening this week:
This is Laken's last week of cyber school!  She has until Friday to finish everything for her classes but if things stay on track, she should be done Thursday.  Then we're going to PARTY!  This has been a rough year and I pray that things go smoothly this week!
The hubby is on first shift this week.  It should be his last week of first shift for the foreseeable future.  He's on vacation this Thursday, Friday and then is off Monday for the holiday.
I think this weekend we are going to go to the movies and possibly go to the amusement park, Delgrosso's.  My brother and sister-in-law got us all season passes for Christmas and this weekend is the opening weekend for the whole park.  And did I mention we're going to PARTY!  lol
I don't mention Kaylee very much because she's busy working and settling in to married life.  I talk to her just about every day.  She has been working on her flower garden in front of her house.  She has really gotten into flower gardening lately.  She still has a few shrubs to plant and I'll try to get a picture :)
Currently reading:
I am reading "Fourth and Long" by Liz Isaacson.  This is the third book in the Three Rivers Ranch Series.  I wish it were a real place that I could go and visit!
On the TV:
Not much this week but we are going to go see "Maverick" (Top Gun Sequel) this coming weekend.  I haven't been to the theater since before March 2020, so I'm looking forward to it :)
Listening to:
This week for "Songs on Sunday" I featured "I Believe It Now" by Sidewalk Prophets.  I hope you'll check it out :)
On the menu today:
Chicken Bundles
In the Craft Basket:
I picked up yarn for a new project.  Teal, Yellow and White.  I'm calling it "Sunny Blue Hawaii 2 :)  Check out my Sewing Saturday post for more info!
Sewing Saturday ~ Sunny Blue Hawaii 2 ~ 5/21/2022
I'm going to be featuring my sewing, crocheting and crafting projects on Saturdays.  Some weeks this will include a finished project, a FNSI or FNWF or just a WIP.
~~~~~~~~

Since finishing Adalynn Audrey's Baby Blanket, I needed a new project to work on while sitting on the deck or watching TV on the couch/bed.

I remembered an afghan I had made and absolutely adored the colors.  I called it Sunny Blue Hawaii and you can see the finished post from 2015 HERE.  It was gifted to a friend in the Summer of 2015.

I decided to make an afghan with Sunny Blue Hawaii as inspiration.  I'm calling it "Sunny Blue Hawaii 2"!  Original, right?

The colors are basically the same but I'll be switching up the granny squares just a tad.

The squares are a bit smaller and alternate colors.

The plan, for now, is to make the afghan 6 squares by 8 squares.  I'll then add borders depending on how much yarn I have left

Here's a small sample of what it will look like.  I have 8 squares completed so far.  I have 40 more to go!

I have a friend in mind to gift this to but I'm not sure if she likes these colors.  I'll find out and let you know :)
