My Mounjaro Journey ~ Update #2 ~ My First Stall?? ~ 7/25/2025

Well, I knew it would come eventually...My first stall.

If you can call one week of not losing weight a stall.  It was actually a gain but a very SMALL gain of 0.2 lbs for this week.

I have consistently lost weight each of the first 5 weeks I've been on Mounjaro 2.5.  I can feel that the 2.5 hasn't been working as well to curb my hunger and food noise though.  I've been having to fight off cravings and getting hungry before bed and I can definitely tell in the mornings that it is time for breakfast.

I talked to my PCP and she said that as long as I'm feeling good (side effect wise) on the 2.5 that it would be best for me to go up to 5.0.  She sent in my next script as Mounjaro 5.0 and I really, really wanted to start it today.  However, my PCP wanted me to finish out the 2 pens of 2.5 that I have before going to the 5.0.

I guess I'll suck it up and listen to my PCP.  I'll just have to work even harder to see a loss on the scale.

The bad thing is the timing.  I'll be taking my first 5.0 jab the Friday before Laken's college move in day on the following Thursday.  I really don't want to be super icky or feeling sick for that.  I'm hoping that since it will be almost a week on the 5.0 that any side effects will have worn off by then.

So to sum it up:  This is my 7th week on Mounjaro 2.5 and in the first 6 weeks I've lost a total of 14.4 lbs.  That averages out to 2.4 lbs per week.  I have to admit that is a pretty good number even though that gain this morning got me down a bit.

I'm going to try to up my game this week by being more mindful of my eating habits.  I've been consistently under my daily calorie allotment for a calorie deficit but I could definitely be making better choices.

Maybe I've been spoiled by losing 14.4 lbs in 6 weeks and now the real work begins.  What do you think?  Does a gain of 0.2 lbs constitute as a stall or just a ho-hum week?

Let me know what you think and if you're on a journey of your own.  I'd love to know all about it!

Until the next update...

Blessings,

Colletta

My Mounjaro Journey ~ Update #1 ~ 7/18/2025

On June 13th, I gave myself my very first Mounjaro shot.

I had a check-up with my PCP on June 12th during which I spoke to her regarding my A1C, weight and overall health.  After much consideration and talking about the side-effects vs benefits, I decided to have a prescription for Mounjaro sent in.  My PCP also gave me a sample box of the medication to get started on until my prescription went through.

Laken had New Student Orientation at WVU on the 13th so I decided to wait until after that to actually start the medication.  That day at the NSO solidified my decision to get my weight and health under control.

If anyone is familiar with WVU, there are many, many steps and stairways.  It was hot and at one point, on a rather long climb, I basically told the hubby and Laken to just leave me behind because I COULD NOT keep up.  I was ashamed, embarrassed and disappointed to be dragging them down.  I feel like I ruined the whole day for everyone.  (BTW, they DID NOT leave me behind and I eventually made it to the top!)

When we got home, I gave myself my first shot.

As of this morning (5 weeks into my journey) I have lost 14.6 lbs.

So far the only side effect I've felt that bothered me was a massive headache on Tuesday, June 17th.  Other than that, I've had the occasional acid re-flux and queasy stomach.  But again, it didn't really bother me too terribly.

I don't know how often I'll be posting updates.  At least monthly but possibly more often if anyone is interested in weekly results.

Let me know what you think and if you're on a journey of your own, I'd love to know all about it!

Blessings,

Colletta

Colletta Is Losing It! ~ Weekly Weigh In #1 ~ 3/4/2025

If you've not read my "Colletta Is Losing It! ~ A Fresh Start" post, please go HERE to check it out.  It is a post where I explain what is going on with my health/wellness journey as well as my plan of action.

~~~~~
So far I haven't been able to get the Zepbound to help with weight loss.  Even though my insurance approved it, my charge was still going to be over $1000/month.  I just can't afford that.  I'm going to call my PCP when I'm off work on Thursday to see what can be done next.
For now, I'll be going the diet/exercise route only.
I'm fairly pleased with my results so far.
My tracking week will be Monday through Sunday.  Here are some stats:
Colletta Is Losing It! ~ Weekly Weigh In ~ #0 ~ 2/24/2025
If you've not read my "Colletta Is Losing It! ~ A Fresh Start" post, please go HERE to check it out.  It is a post where I explain what is going on with my health/wellness journey as well as my plan of action.
One of those actions mentioned is a weekly weigh in post.  I debated using a separate blog for my journey but decided against it.  I've been blogging here on Colletta's Kitchen Sink for 16 years and it has always been "a little bit of everything" about my life, so why change that now.
I'd like to be transparent and honest about my journey and this is the starting point:  Week #0 .  My initial weigh in and measurements.
I went to my PCP on 2/19/25 for an ear infection and you know that pesky business of weighing a person every visit...I tipped the scale at 301.6 lbs.  So that is where I'm starting.  And hopefully ending this escalation of weight gain.
I've not yet heard whether or not our health insurance company is going to authorize my prescription for Zepbound but I decided not to wait for that and to get started right away.
My plan for weigh in posts is to weigh in on Monday mornings and post my results either Monday evening or Tuesday.  I work on Monday so that will give me some time to compose my Weekly Weigh In post.  I'll probably also include some measurements and exercise stats along the way with any other information I deem pertinent.
Weekly Weigh In ~ 3/23/2022
Once again (for the bazillionth time), I'm starting on a weight loss journey.
My first mini-goal is to get below 280 lbs.  I'm giving myself a deadline of June 3, 2022 as that is my next doctor's appointment.  Yikes!  No pressure!
I'll be weighing in on Mondays and posting my results on Wednesday.  If you'd like to join in on the journey, I'd love to have some weight loss friends and support!
Feel free to use the "Weekly Weigh In" graphic and create your own post with as much (or as little) info as you are comfortable sharing and leave a link in the comments.  Or you can just report your results in the comments.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My Dad has been put on a strict diet by his doctor due to Diabetes and High Blood Pressure.  They set his first goal at 30lbs lost.  I'm hoping that we can encourage each other on this journey.

We're going to be using his diabetic scale to weigh in so that I can quit fighting on a daily basis with my cheapie digital scale!

Next week, I plan on letting you know what exercise I've done and also the number of days I've tracked my food using LoseIT! and stayed within my calorie range.

Weigh in #2:

Highest Weight ~ 297.0 lbs

Last Week's Weight ~ 3/14/2022 ~ 295.4 lbs.

This Week's Weight ~ 3/21/2022 ~ 294.0 lbs.

This Week's Total:   -1.4 lbs.

Grand Total: -3.0 lbs

Please let me know in the comments if you are on your own weight loss journey!  I'd love to follow along :)

Weekly Weigh In ~ My Journey to Lose 150 lbs ~ Week #1 ~ 2/17/2021

Once again (for the bazillionth time), I'm starting on a weight loss journey.  I have about 150 lbs to lose in order to be in a healthy weight range if the chart below is to be believed.  I'm 5'2" so the high end of the chart says I should weigh 144 lbs.  That is just a little bit shy of half my current size!

My first mini-goal is to get below 280 lbs.  I think my mini-goals are going to be in 5 lb increments to keep me focused.

I'll be weighing in on Fridays and posting my results the following Wednesday.  If you'd like to join in on the journey, I'd love to have some weight loss friends and support!

Feel free to use the "Weekly Weigh In" graphic and create your own post with as much (or as little) info as you are comfortable sharing and leave a link in the comments.  Or you can just report your results in the comments.

Last week I exercised (treadmill) 6 times for a total of 366 minutes and a total of 42,900 steps!  I was really proud of myself!

I am using the LoseIt! app to track my calories and stayed right around 1500/day.   Some days were a little under 1500 calories.  A few were slightly over.

When I weighed in Friday (2/12/21) morning, I weighed 284.4 lbs for a total loss of 1.0 lb for Week #1.

I weighed every day that week (not sure if I'm going to continue doing so) and my average weight was 284.4 lbs!

Weigh in #1:

Highest Weight ~ 296.4 lbs

Starting Weight ~ 2/5/2021 ~ 285.4 lbs

Last Week's Weight ~ 2/5/2021 ~ 285.4 lbs.

This Week's Weight ~ 2/12/2021 ~ 284.4 lbs

This Week's Total:   -1.0 lb

Grand Total: -12.0 lbs
