Family Time ~ Fishing Date ~ 5/23/17

The hubby loves to fish.

I enjoy fishing but get easily bored with it so for the past few years, I haven't even gotten my fishing license.  Instead, I've taken a book.  hehe

This year, though, I decided I wanted to spend some quality time with the hubby without my nose being stuck in a book so I got my license.  And some fake worms, because I am NOT touching a real one!

The other afternoon was the first opportunity that we had to go fishing together.  The hubby had found out that the DCNR had stocked the cricks (yes, cricks) in our area and was excited to go.  I couldn't resist him asking me if I wanted to go along.

I think he's just so cute with all his fishing gear on!

Between the two of us this was the only fish caught!  The hubby says that the water is too clear right now and the fish see us and are scared off.

Even though we didn't have much success in catching fish, I loved every minute spent with my love and look forward to many more fishing dates this season.

So, do you fish?  How do you spend quality time with your love?

Monday's Musings ~ Easter Break ~ 4/21/14

As many of you might know, I started working part-time at our local college in January.  The great thing about working at a school is getting holidays off.  I was fortunate to have a long Easter Break.  I got off Thursday at 1pm and didn't have to be back at work until Monday at 9am.  I was really looking forward to this down time.  Well, I was mostly looking forward to sleeping in!

Thursday:

The girls still had school on Thursday but Doug (the hubby) and I were both off.  We snapped up the opportunity to have a "Date Day".  After getting the girls to school, we had a relaxing morning before getting ready and heading to town.  We did some shopping, ate lunch out, ran into some friends and hit the "hair cut store".  It was so nice to not have any specific plans and to just be together.

When the girls got home, we went for a walk/ride as a family.  The girls rode their bikes and Doug and I walked.  It was sunny and just a beautiful day to spend together outside.  After supper, I even spent some time out on my swing with my Bible.  I love reading outside and am so glad to finally be having some Spring weather.

Friday:

Friday we were all off.  The girls slept in so we had a quiet morning.  After they woke up, we had a Easter Egg Hunt for them in the yard.   No matter how old they get, they still love searching for the eggs.  Or maybe they just like those "special eggs" that have money in them.

In the afternoon, we went to Altoona and saw "Rio 2".  It was a sweet movie but I don't think Kaylee was too thrilled.  She's in that in-between stage where she doesn't really appreciate cartoon movies like she used to.  Hopefully, she'll grow to love them again.

We had lunch out at Longhorn Steakhouse where we finally used up some gift cards.  Then we make some stops at K-Mart, Toys-r-Us and of course, Harbor Freight.  Laken and I waited in the van during the Harbor Freight stop.  It just isn't our thing.

Saturday:

In the morning, Laken had T-ball practice.  I love watching the little ones play :)

We colored Easter Eggs in the afternoon and got them all ready for Sunday.  No matter how old the girls get, they love coloring eggs.

Other than that it was a pretty normal Saturday.  It was basically a relaxing, around-the-house kinda day.

Sunday:

Sunday was Easter, of course.  The first thing the girls did was look through their baskets at their goodies.

We went to Sunday School and Church.  After Church we had a fellowship dinner with ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, carrot cake and so much more.  It was delicious!

I usually take a Sunday afternoon nap, but I wasn't tired.  Instead, I took a two lap walk around our neighborhood while the girls played.  I came home and read out on the deck.  I finally finished another book!

In the evening, we went to Youth Group for the girls and then Church.

It was a beautiful, sunny day.  Perfect!

Overview:

We had a great Easter break with a lot of family time and beautiful weather.  I feel well-rested and ready to tackle getting back into our normal routine.

How was your Easter?  Did you do anything fun?  Did you have any time off?  I'd love to know :)

Movie Review: "Life As We Know It"

Life as We Know It

Movie Description per Netflix

2010    PG-13   115 minutes

Caterer Holly Berenson (Katherine Heigl) and network sports director Eric Messer (Josh Duhamel) discover a reciprocal hatred during an ill-fated first date -- but are forced to put their feelings aside when their mutual friends die and they become the guardians for orphaned Sophie. Now, Holly and Eric must learn to live with each other and juggle their promising careers while taking care of the little girl in this romantic comedy.

Cast:  Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel, Josh Lucas, Alexis Clagett, Brynn Clagett, Brooke Clagett, Hayes MacArthur, Christina Hendricks, Sarah Burns, Melissa McCarthy

Director:Greg Berlanti

Genres:  Comedy, Romantic Comedies, Blu-ray, Warner Home Video

This movie is:  Emotional, Sentimental, Romantic

My Thoughts:

Last Saturday evening the girls stayed over at Aunt Donna and Doug and I had a date night.  There really wasn't anything playing at the theater that we majorly wanted to see, so I suggested hitting Wal-Mart and buying a movie that we had been wanting to see.

I found "Life As We Know It" and remembered that the previews looked really good.  But for some reason I thought the two were a married couple realizing how life would be with a baby.

I soon found out that it wasn't the case.  They were set up by mutual friends and had a horrible not-even-leave-the-parking-spot first date and hated each other.  They were still connected by the love of their friends and for the baby that became their god-child.

When the parents accident happened, I cried and cried!  It was so heartbreaking!  It was interesting to see how the characters of Holly and Messer handled the pressure.

After the crying was done, I laughed hysterically!!!  It was so funny watching the two mis-matched, new parents try to deal with intant baby caring.  I laughed so much through this movie because it just hit so close to home.  Especially, the WIGGLES!  And then RESCUE PETS!  So funny!

I loved how this movie ends.  I just plain loved this movie and highly recommend it.

It isn't for the kiddos though.  Too much adult content.  But make sure you watch it sometime when you can get time off to yourselves.

Valentine's Date Night

I'm really feeling some winter blah's right now and decided I need to focus on something to look forward to.

We've scheduled a date night for Valentine's "week".  There was no way it would happen on a Monday night.  If we're lucky, we'll get to sleep alone that night.  (4yo who thinks our bed is her's.)

As it happens, Doug is working daylight that week and will be home in the evenings.  This means our date can be in the evening and the girls can spend the night at G&P's (Gram & Pap's).

So Friday, February 18th, it is!

A date and an evening/night all alone.  I don't know when that happened last.

We'll be going to "The Olive Garden".  Thanks Sean and Kayla for the giftcard at Christmas!

Then we'll be going to a movie!  What?  Actually go to a theater and see a movie that we get to pick out!  All by ourselves?!?  Thanks to my brother, Dan for the specified "Date Money" he gave us for Christmas.  He knows us so well.

Oh, I'm getting all excited about looking on the internet to see what movies will be playing!  When we were dating that was a weekly tradition.  Oh, the excitement.  I can hardly contain it!

What will I wear?  Should I go get my hair done?  Maybe even my eyebrows?  I'll definitely shave my  legs.  Well, probably.  Maybe I'll even break out a new razor!!

Will Doug actually shave and clean the car out like he used to before our dates?  Without me telling him to, that is?  Oh, if only...  Be still my heart!

10 days and counting.

Anyone know of a good movie that will be playing in the theaters on the 18th?
