Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 7/26/2021

Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, and Happy Monday!
The weather outside is:
Another nice week ahead :)
On today's to-do list:
Monday morning is filled with appointments for Laken.  First she has a sports physical for volleyball and track.  Then physical therapy for her knee pain.  The orthopedic surgery gave the "good-to-go" for sports and said that her knee pain is from her muscles developing at different rates and that PT should be able to alleviate the pain.
Annalea will be hanging out with me too :)
Happening this week:
We need to finalize the menu for the wedding with the caterer who is making the food and the cake.  We also need to work on decorations.  Other finishing touches for the wedding are all listed in a tablet to check off one-by-one :)  Less than 3 weeks to go!
Laken will be headed back to Volleyball open-gym on Tuesday and Thursdays until regular season practice starts toward the middle of the month.  Her school starts back on August 23rd and she is NOT happy about it!  She's nervous about heading into High School.
The hubby is on second shift this week so I'll be feeling lonely in the evening but have time to work on the Wedding Afghan for Kaylee and Shawn.  I have about 8 more rounds on the border to go...
I won't have Annalea on Tuesday as Steph is off work that day.  I'm thinking of treating myself to a mani-pedi.  I'm looking forward to it :)
Currently reading:
I just finished up "The 10 Commandments of Marriage" by Ed Young.  It was the first book I've finished since March.  You can read my review HERE.  I'm not sure what I'm going to read next.  I have a ton of fiction on my Kindle but I'm kinda in the mood for another non-fiction.  Any recommendations?
On the TV:
Hot Mess House
Black Widow on Disney+ ~ It was a good movie and well worth the money to purchase it as a "Premiere" movie.  It was much cheaper than if we'd have all gone to the theater to watch it.  There was some mild language so be cautious with the littles.
Listening to:
This week I featured "You Had Me From Hello" by Kenny Chesney on Songs on Sunday.  I'll be featuring all things "Wedding" for the next month.  I hope you'll check it out :)
On the menu week:
Not done yet :(
Monday ~
Tuesday ~
Wednesday ~
Thursday ~
Friday ~
Saturday ~
Sunday ~ Potluck at Church
In the Craft Basket:
As mentioned above, I have about 8 rounds on the border of the Wedding Afghan for Kaylee and Shawn.  I worked on it Saturday evening while watching Black Widow and made "some" progress but not as much I'd like.  20 days to go!
Our Church Youth Group made a trip to Hovatter's Wildlife Zoo in Kingwood, WV.  Isn't this giraffe gorgeous?
Thankful Thursday ~ 10/24/19
Here are some things that made me thankful or smile this week:
~Laken's last Volleyball Game!  For the season, anyway.  I mentioned last week that the season was ending and she had one final game on Monday.  The team had a pizza party yesterday after school and WE'RE DONE!  Quiet evenings:  Here we come!  :)
~School Picture Day!  This made me smile because I remember the days when Laken didn't care a bit about how she looked, even for school pictures!  Well, this year was a completely different matter!  She got up early.  She picked out 5 different outfits before deciding on what to wear.  She wanted me to smooth her hair.  She fussed that her hair was too fluffy.  She was a mess the entire morning getting ready for school.  I have to say that I was glad when the bus pulled away with her on it!  :)
~Apple Cake!  I blame my Mom.  She made an Apple Cake with Caramel Icing and it was delicious!  Being that I'm doing WW and trying to lose weight, I did my best to stay away from the cake but I did have a few pieces over a couple days.  Hey, it DID have apples!  That's a fruit! :)
~Kaylee and Shawn's "Anniversary"!  Can you believe that Kaylee and Shawn have been dating for 4 YEARS!?!?  She was only 14 years old and him 15 years old when they got together over sheet music in Band Class.  Isn't that sweet?  For their "Anniversary", they went to Applebee's and then came back to the house and watched a movie.  I can honestly say that I just LOVE Shawn to pieces.  His parents did such a good job raising him and I couldn't ask for a better boyfriend for Kaylee :)
~Fabric Shopping!  I wanted to add some seasonal aprons to my Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/shop/collettakay ) so the hubby took me fabric shopping!  It isn't really his "thing' but he knows how much I love playing with pretty fabrics (yarns, too) and creating items for my shop.  He's so supportive of everything I do.  I guess I could have titled this item "Wonderful Hubby!"  :)
 What are you thankful for or made you smile today?
Thankful Thursday ~ 10/17/19
Here are some things that made me thankful or smile this week:
~Fall Foliage Festival!  Bedford has an annual Fall Foliage Festival with tons of food and tons of booths of decorations, jewelry and basically anything you could think of.  Saturday, Laken and I went to the Festival.  Just the two of us.  We had a great time.  It felt so good to have some one-on-one time with Laken as she's been so busy with school and Volleyball these past few months :)
~Kona's toy!  I love that kids and dogs don't need expensive toys.  Doug gave Kona an empty pop bottle to play with and she was in her glory!  Don't worry.  We kept our eye on her and when she had chewed it enough to have sharp edges we got rid of it.  But she loved it while she had it :)  I wish everyone was so easy to please!
~Last week of Volleyball!  Don't get me wrong!  I absolutely LOVE watching Laken play Volleyball and love that she loves playing.  But, this is the last week of Volleyball and I sure am looking forward to some nice quiet evenings.  I'm also looking forward to having everyone sit at the supper table at the same time :)
~The hubby went to the Chiropractor!  You don't know what a feat this was!  Doug pulled his back last weekend and I guess it finally got painful enough for him to let me take him to my Chiropractor.  15 minutes in with the Dr. and he is feeling so much better :)
~I've lost 20 lbs!  If you didn't read my "Weekly Weigh In" post yesterday, I have lost 20.4 lbs since returning to WW 2.5 months ago.  I'm so excited that the program is working for me.  I have a long way to go, but 20 lbs!  :)
What are you thankful for or made you smile today?
Happy Homemaker Monday ~ 7/29/19
Come join Diary of a SAHM for Happy Homemaker Monday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We're still at a loss as to what is going on with my Uncle John.  He is still unresponsive and stuck in CA.  He has a team of neurologists working on him but so far, they've not figured out what is causing him to be unresponsive.  My Aunt Tina is distraught!  I can't even imagine being so far from home and having to deal with something so terrible.  Please keep praying and thank you for those of you who have been praying!  Prayers are so appreciated!

The weather outside is::::

It has been a bit cooler if you can call 89F cool!  We've had a few storms that brought the cooler air through so that was nice.  I'm going to enjoy these last few weeks of summer.

On my breakfast plate:

Smart Ones Ham Egg and Cheese Muffin

As I look around the house::::

I have a basket of laundry to fold and a whole pile of folded clothes to hang up in my closet.  For some reason, this is something I procrastinate about.

As always, the floors could be swept.  With 2 Labradors I always sweep up enough hair to make a small dog!

On today's to do list::::

Devotions
Exercise
Groceries

Happening this week::::

Devotions:  I want to start a new Bible Study this week.  I have a few studies on my shelf to pick from but haven't decided which one to do next.

WW:  I rejoined WW (aka weight watchers) last Monday.  I had my first "workshop" and weigh-in on Saturday morning.  I had weighed in on my scale the day I started and it appears that I lost 4lbs between Monday and Saturday!

Exercise:  WW has set my goal to get 52 FitPoints this week.  My plan is to exercise/workout 5 days a week (taking Sunday and Wednesday off).  I missed Saturday's workout after the workshop because we had a family reunion and I had to pick up the chicken and the cake all before 10am.  Otherwise, on Saturdays I'm going to go to my weekly workshop and then to Planet Fitness for a good workout.

Housework:  I made a menu and grocery list yesterday and have to get groceries today after my workout.  My bedroom still is a mess as I didn't take the time to really declutter it last week.  I'll roll that over to this week's list of to-do's.

Bills:  Not a pay week.

Doug:  A normal work week.

Kaylee:  Kaylee can go buy her college class books this Thursday.  She has been anxiously waiting to be able to go purchase them.  I think it will all seem so much more real once she does.  She has been practicing her driving.  She drove to the mall by herself (with a friend) for the firs time Saturday.  I was nervous but she did fine!

Laken:  Laken is starting 7th grade this coming school year and can play Jr. High Sports.  She is so excited to be playing Volleyball and Open Gym for Jr. High starts Tuesday evening.  I hope she enjoys it!

Thankful Thursday ~ 6/27/19

~Kaylee's Party was a success!  I tried not to stress myself out getting ready for Kaylee's 18th Birthday Party.  I made list upon list and managed to keep it organized.  I worried for nothing, because it went off without a hitch!  We had a great afternoon hanging out with family and friends :)

~Church Camp was a success!  Again, a lot of preparation went into the behind the scenes set up of our Church Camp Meeting.  I helped with baking pies, cooking meals and the concession stand.  Others had their own jobs to complete.  We all came together and worked hard so that the campers could have a great time  :)

~Laken has decided to hang up her pompoms! She really wants to play Jr. High Volleyball this Fall and doing v-ball and cheerleading would just be too much along with her school work.  I'm already going to be busy running her back and forth to v-ball practices and games and I don't think I could keep up with cheerleading as well.  Quality over quantity, they say :)

~Kaylee's College Orientation! Monday Kaylee had a orientation for the students that have been admitted to her college.  She will be studying Business Management and classes start on August 19th.  I think it is getting real for her now and she's getting excited for the next chapter of her life!  I'm trying to play it cool :)

~Hubby's Vacation!  I'm excited that the Hubby is on vacation starting Friday morning!  We have some good quality family time planned.  Some of the activities are fishing, camping, movies and baseball games.  I can't wait  :)

What are you thankful for today?
