Book Review ~ Farm Fresh Murder by Paige Shelton ~ 5/11/17

First in the Farmer's Market Mystery Series.

Becca Robins leads a simple life, making jams and preserves on her very own farm. But when there's a murder in her quaint little town, she puts herself in the line of fire to defend her friend's innocence-and goes from making jam to being in one...

Becca is late for her stall time at Bailey's Farmers' Market.  By the time she arrives, the normally lush and lively market has turned into a crime scene, with a murdered peach vendor as the featured item of the day.

Cranky old Abner Justen sells wildflowers and is like a father to Becca.  It seems he's also the number one suspect, seen arguing with the victim just days before.  As Becca seeks the truth, she comes to realize that life in the friendly farmers' market is filled with bushels of secrets and deceit.  To preserve her own life, she'll have to sniff out the murderer before he spoils the market for everyone...

My Thoughts:

I was on a break for a while.  From just about all my hobbies, including reading.

The lovely Spring weather and talking about planting gardens had me picking up this book from my shelf.  It was the perfect book to get me back into reading.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of Bailey's Farmers' Market.

The characters were fun to get to know and left me wanting to know even more about them.  Especially, Ian...  hehe

The mystery, itself, was well written and had me guessing.  Every time I thought I had it figured out another twist was thrown in.

There was a bit of bad language throughout the book but not bad enough to reduce my enjoyment of reading it.

I can't wait to get to my local farmers' market now!

Book Review ~ A Crafty Killing by Lorraine Barlett ~ 4/27/17

The last thing Katie Bonner wanted was to become the manager of Artisans Alley. But when her business partner, Ezra Hilton, is found bludgeoned to death, she has no other choice. Business under Ezra has been faltering-but was it enough to provoke someone to murder? Only Katie can find the answer.

My Thoughts:

I'm loving cozies right now!  This book was so much fun to read.

I would love to comb through the Artisan Alley and look at all the vendors' wares.

I enjoyed getting to know Katie and some of the other vendors even though in the back of my mind I was trying to figure out who killed Ezra!

I really liked "watching" Katie put new ideas into place in an effort to bring some life back to the Alley and to Victoria Square.  It is a place I would like to visit and watch transform.

There are a few "unsavory" words that I'm not used to reading in my "inspirational" books, but nothing too horrible.

Do you like cozy mysteries?

Some New Cozies and Teacher Gifts

I've added a new style of cozy to my etsy shop.  It is a "Cup Cozy" or can also be used as a "Can Cozy".  It can also be used on a water bottle.  I think it is a great way to distinguish your cup, can, or bottle from everyone else's.

I received the pattern as a bonus from http://www.jspirik.etsy.com/ when I purchased another pattern from her.

I am using these as teacher gifts this year.  My daughter said her teachers don't really drink coffee, they drink pepsi, so I thought this would be perfect.  I let Kaylee pick out the colors for each of her teachers.

This cozy is made in "Banana Berry"

This is "Bikini".

"Cherry Chip"

"BonBon"

Shown on a to-go coffee cup:  "Mistletoe"

Here is also a new combination I've made with the Mug Cozy Pattern.  A black cozy with any choice of color for the decorative flower.

Mug cozy in "Black with Pink Flower"

"Black with Red Flower"

I love giving homemade gifts to teachers.  I think they deserve all the appreciation we can give them.  I know I couldn't handle 25-30 kids at once.  I'd be even crazier than I am now!!  lol

P.S.  You can click on any of the pictures above to go the listing in my shop for that item.

Please see my left sidebar for the great places I'll be linking to!
