Booking Through Thursday ~ Snow Days ~ 2/13/14

"For most of the east coast, at least, it’s a wintry, snowy day today, so … How do you like to spend your snow days? Feel free to gloss over the obligatory parts like shoveling unless you LIKE it. We’re talking ideal, best way to spend a snow day kind of thoughts, here.

For those of you who live in places where snow days simply don’t happen? Feel free to substitute “snow” with “rain” and think about the kind of days when you just want to cuddle up inside where it’s warm and dry."

I just so happen to be on said east coast!  And, yes, it is a snow day today.

I'm off work and both kids are off of school.  Now, I'm just anxiously waiting for the hubby to make it home from work so that I can have a nice, relaxing snow day.

As for what I'll be doing:  reading, of course!

I've had two book lined up and waiting all week as I anticipated a snow day for today :)

Booking Through Thursday ~ Multi-Tasking ~ 1/30/14

"Do you do other things while you read? Watch TV? Cook? Brush your teeth? Knit?"

When I read, I like to just sit back ( or lay back) and relax and not do much of anything else.  Sometimes I do read while cooking or baking if there is a lull.  I used to watch TV and read at the same time but not anymore.

Booking Through Thursday ~ Foreign Language ~ 4/17/13

"I saw a Latin edition of “The Hobbit” last time I was at the bookstore… Do you read any foreign languages? Do you ENJOY reading in other languages?"

I'm ashamed to say that would be a big, fat NO...  I had two years of Spanish in High School and that is as far as my foreign language study went.  So far.  I would love to become fluent in Spanish.  At least enough that I could follow along with what is spoken on some of my favorite TV shows :)

Booking Through Thursday ~ Rating System ~ 3/28/13

"Movies have a rating system to help guide the consumer weed out adult/violent/inappropriate kinds of films. Video games do, too. Do you think BOOKS should have a ratings system?"

What an interesting question!  I've never thought about this before.  My answer would be a huge YES!

It would be so helpful if books had a rating systems.  Not only for my own reading but also in knowing what to allow my pre-teen to read.  I usually try to look up the suggested age for reading a certain book before allowing her to read it but I would love to have some kind of rating system to help also.

Good question!

Booking Through Thursday ~ Mood ~ 3/14/13

btt button

Does your current mood affect your reading? Affect your choices?

YES!  My reading is very related to my mood.  I've even been known to stop a book part way through if I'm not feeling it.  I'll read a different book and then come back to the previous book with a whole new outlook and enjoy it much more.

After all, that is why I read :)

Clocks change this weekend here in the US, which means one less hour to read … does anybody else begrudge that hour like I do? Wish the Powers That Be would just pick a time-frame and stick to it instead of inflicting clock-driven jet lag on an innocent public twice a year?
(Yeah, so not a question so much about reading … except, of course, you do need to use your electric light to be able to read, so the hour it gets dark IS relevant!)

I do feel the effects of changing the times.  My internal clock gets all messed up and it takes me a few weeks to get it reset.

However, I can't wait to Spring Forward!  I love having the light in the evening :)  I especially enjoy taking a book out on my swing and reading in the evening.

It also means:  SPRING IS COMING!!!!

What are you reading right now? (And, is it good? Would you recommend it? How did you choose it?)

I'm just getting ready to start:

Firefly Island

I'm just starting it so I can't say whether it is good or not but I hope so.  I'll be reviewing it on March 7th, so I'll let you know then if I recommend it:)  I received this book to read as part of a Litfuse Book Tour.
