Hi, Everyone!
In case anyone has noticed, it has been a little while...
I got to the point with blogging that I really wanted to take a step back and evaluate if I even wanted to keep blogging. I got tired of doing the same routine each week with the same weekly linkups, memes, etc.
After giving it a great amount of thought, I need something different.
I even thought about starting a brand new blog, but I really like this space. Colletta's Kitchen Sink is almost 10 years old! Can you believe that? I have 1169 followers and have surpassed the 1,000,000 views milestone so I really didn't want to just turn away from that progress.
So...
I decided to just head my blog in "A New Direction".
I'll be posting about a variety of topics that are of interest to me at this point in my 40-year-old life. I'm not even going to promise to post on certain days, but I will try to post at least a few times a week.
If you're still reading my blog, I hope you'll stick around to see where it goes :)
Also, if you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see on my blog, please leave a comment. (Heck, I'd love for you to leave a comment so I know people are still reading!)

Journal Entry ~ 2/12/18
I feel like there is so much that I haven't blogged about. I've fallen into a rut of only posting certain linkups on certain days and that leaves out a lot about life.
Every now and then I'm going to start posting a Journal Entry. It may be daily it may be weekly. Who knows....
So for today:
~I've mentioned that I babysit my cousin's little one 3 days a week. What I haven't mentioned is that I quit my part-time job at the College. I just wasn't happy there anymore. There wasn't anything in particular that was bad about the job, it just wasn't me anymore. So, I'm babysitting and loving it! I get Dexter onto the school bus then drop the girls off at school. Then for the rest of the day it is just me and Damon. Steph gets home just in time for me to pick the girls up at school and then we head home or to whatever activity we have on that particular day. So far, so good...
~One of Kona's litter-mates passed away a few days ago from Parvo. I don't understand how that would have happened when the puppy had the vaccinations. It makes me worry about Kona. She had her shots up-to-date when we got her and we were diligent about making sure she got all the vaccines and shots at our vet afterward. I don't know much about Parvo, but should I be worried???
~We got our taxes done tonight. It is always a love/hate time for me. I hate paying someone to do the taxes but I do enjoy getting a refund! I could try to fill out the tax forms myself, but it is just so much easier and quicker to go where we've been going for years. They punch in the numbers and , voila, done.
~I need to catch up on my Read Thru the Word. I'm 2 days behind. I don't want to get any further behind than that because then it will be too hard to catch up.
~Once again, I didn't exercise today. I just didn't have time and I'm just too tired now. I need to get to bed. 4am comes early.

A Loooonnnngggg Bloggy Break
I've noticed a trend with myself. I'll blog hot and heavy for a while and then I need a break.
My last bloggy break was about 2-3 months long. This bloggy break was (unintentionally) about 4-5 months long. I just lost my blogging creativity, desire and plain old "took a break".
I woke up this morning with my desire back. I actually had a dream that I was blogging and woke up thinking, "I need to start blogging again". So here I am.
Lots has changed since I last blogged. Well, not "a lot" but something pretty big has been taking place.
We moved!
My cousin is buying our house, praise the Lord! So we've temporarily moved in with my brother.
"The Plan" is to build onto my Mom and Dad's house next spring. We'll be building an addition so that we can have our own space while still being with my parents to help them take care of the place. They live out in the country and have a good bit of land to take care of.
They are in really good health but we are thinking of the future. It will be beneficial for all, I believe.
I'm excited to once again be a country girl. We're even talking about getting some chickens!
The hubby is excited to be planning a building project. All he talks about is lumber and cement and roofing, etc. He also grew up out-of-town and I think he's looking forward to being able to walk out the door and see wildlife.
Kaylee, the oldest daughter, isn't so happy about being out of town but she will soon have her driver's license and won't be "stranded in the country". Laken, youngest daughter, is thrilled and would move in with my parents now if we'd let her.
So, lots of packing has occurred. Lots of sifting, sorting and downsizing, too. I have no idea how we accumulated so much STUFF! It feels good to have finally pared down on "things" that we have no need for. Very liberating!
So, I'm settling in for at least a 6 month wait until things begin with the addition. Lots of planning to do and permits to get.
Hopefully blogging again will help the time pass quickly.

Sweet Summertime...
Aww, summer. July, no less.
I have been so sporadic on my blogging since getting back from vacation. Especially, the last two weeks.
The thing is, I have posts planned and then before I know it, the day is gone. I'm going to work on getting back on schedule and trying to post in the morning before the day gets going.
Things should be settling into more of a routine now, so wish me luck.
Oh, and if you could say a little prayer for my girls to get along and not fight so much...that would be great!

It is a Beautiful Day!
What a pretty day it is! The sun is shining and the temp is in the 50's.

The 4 yo and I just walked to the Post Office to get the mail and mail out some books.
It has been a busy, hectic beginning to the week and I'm just getting around to my Monday to-do's.
I'm off my regular blogging schedule but that is OK. It will just help me be able to get posts ready ahead of time for next week.
So be looking for some book reviews, recipes, craftiness, and a QOTC within the next few days to a week. I'm trying not to stress about it.
Friday is the BIG DATE NIGHT! whoohoo. Excited about that in case you didn't realize.
I just wanted to check in. Now back to the grind!

Prayer, Blogkeeping & QOTC
On Monday's I ususally post a recipe that I've tried. However, the past few weeks I've neither the time nor the inclination to do any more than the basic necessity of cooking.
Prayer:
I ask you all to keep my dad in prayer. He is currently in the VA Hospital in Altoona, PA with a very bad blood infection. He is on some heavy duty IV antibiotics and he is improving each day. But I still worry because, well, he's my dad, and they still have to find out what caused the infection to enter the blood which sets my over-active imagination to work.
The hospital is about 45 minutes away, so we've been busy making trips back and forth and just trying to take one day at a time.
Blogkeeping:
I added tabs to the top of my blog a few weeks ago but have not had time to actually go into all my posts and make direct lists under the pages. If I ever have time, I'll go in and try to get the back posts linked, but for now there is just a general link.
As of 1/1/11, I will be adding direct links under the "pages" as I post new posts. That is the plan. I may miss one or two but that is the way life goes.
I think I may also add a list of the link-ups I participate in on my side-bar rather than in each individual post. (a lot of redundant typing). What do you think of this? Is it disrespectful to just say "Please see my sidebar for the parties I'm linking up to today? I'd love some opinions on this as I wouldn't want to offend any of the great party hosts.
QOTC:
Tomorrow (hopefully) will be my first Queen of the Castle post starting with "Week 1". I'll be posting anything that strikes me or sticks out to me. If you are also doing this "52 Weeks of Encouragement", you can do the same on your blog. It doesn't have to be on Tuesdays, if Tuesdays aren't good for you. But when you do post your QOTC post, please leave a link in my comments so I can come read what you thought of that particular week and maybe discuss what we got from the study.
Ok, I think that is all for now.
As soon as my little one wakes up, we'll be heading off to Altoona to check on "Pappy". Mom called him first thing this morning and he said he's feeling better and getting his appetite back. Please keep him in your prayers for continued healing.

Expensive Packages Being Left at the Door Rant
This has really been bothering me lately. Probably because we've been doing some ordering on the internet and that mean deliveries whether by UPS, Fedex or whoever.
Why are the drivers just leaving the packages by the door with no knock, ringing of the doorbell or any indication that they've been by.
I know a very special quilter who has had packages of fabric stolen right off her porch while she's been at work.
Thankfully, I'm home fulltime and the dogs usually let me know when a vehicle comes down the street. Usually annoying but this time I was more annoyed at the delivery man.
I found this sitting outside my door. No porch. Just the graveled driveway. In a slightly rainy/snowy mix.
We ordered it off Overstock.com as our Christmas gift to each other. But look at it. Anyone could tell what it was. Anyone could have stopped and taken it if I hadn't been home, expecting it, and alerted by the hounds.
The same happened with my new laptop, but at least it was in a plain cardboard box. Incognito.
I realize this is a busy season for the delivery people, but come on. At least ring the bell.

Very Interesting New Blog
I came across this really neat blog through another blog I follow. It is called "Sewing In No Mans Land" How far will 15 yrds go?Here is the blog plot:
Hi! My name is Kelly. I am currently living in Dili, Timore Leste (East Timor, to most of the world) a tiny island off the coast of Northern Australia. My husband works for the US Government here so our families are diplomates to the country for the next two years. To learn more about Timor you can click HERE. The short version is it is a VERY war ravaged nation who only won it's independence a decade ago. They are a wonderful people although incredible impoverished. The majority of the capital was burned to the ground but it is slowly being rebuilt. When I came to Dili we were allotted a certain amount of weight for items we wanted to bring with us. The few items that were undebatable were my sewing machines, my camera and a heap of fabric. Well, I ended up with a little under 15 yards of fabric. The local “fabric stores” only carry solid colors or mildly hideous floral prints. This left me with a challenge. Although we have diplomatic pouch, making it so we have a US address and anything shipped to us costs the same amount it would if we were living in the states, I decided to see how long I could make those 15 yards of cute fabric last, and what new patterns I could make up.
The Rules
I can only use fabric I either brought with me or is sent to me by friends, family or readers. The only fabric I personally can purchase must be found locally. This does include when I am on vacation (They have some cool fabric in Bali!). Once the fabric I brought with me is out that is it, I have to make due with only local items. I am considering this a Global Experiment in Sewing and hope to get lots of feed back and suggestions. We will be moving every two years with a month back in the states in between so things should get pretty fun as I find fabric all over the world.
