LIVE ~ Mani Monday ~ 5/21/12

hosted by Heather and Heather

Monday and raining, again!  Hopefully looking at some color will perk me up :)

This week's mani was done by me.  Meaning, it is kinda messy.  I ust cannot seem to keep the polish only on my nails.  Any tips?

I started out with L.A. Colors "LIVE".  It is a glittery silver but just wasn't doing it for my by itself.  A bit too tin-foily :)

So, I added a coat or two of L.A. Colors "JEWEL TONE".  This is clear with glitters in beautiful, dark, colors.  I started with just adding it to the tips but then decided I wanted it on the complete nail.

I really like how it turned out.

Gorgeous ~ Mani Monday ~ 5/14/12

hosted by Heather and Heather

Hello, rainy Monday.

You're not going to get me down.  Because all I have to do is look at this "Gorgeous" color on my nails and I feel all beachy and happy.

I'm always very critical and see my mess-ups when I do my own nails.  (boy, don't I sound spoiled?)  In truth, I've only been getting manicures for about 1 year.  What did I ever do before?!?

Here's a full-out shot of my short, chubby fingers :)

This color actually is called "Gorgeous" by Sinful Colors.  I received this in my lovely favorite colors swap from Ashley.  You can see the rest of my delicious haul HERE.

I did my toes too, but I'll spare you :)

It is just me this week for Mani-Monday.  The girls weren't feeling it this week.  I tried to paint my York-a-Pom's nails once.  It wasn't pretty.  Maybe next I'll try my black labs nails.  I'll let you know how it goes :)

Mani-Monday ~ 5/7/12

hosted by Heather and Heather

This past week was a mani/pedi week!  Yay!

From now on I'm going to take my own polish when I get a mani or pedi.  I can't even make it out of the salon and to my car with messing my nails up.  It makes me so mad!  It helps to know that I have the polish and can fix it up if I need to.

I let Laken pick what color to take with me.  She picked this new orange color that I bought for a couple bucks at the Dollar General.

I know this is a little blurry, but I wanted to show you that this color is indeed called:  "9.0.2.1.Orange" by Wet-n-Wild

For some reason, this amused me :)

Here's a peep at my toes.  I really like this color.  I thought it would be a bit darker but actually like how it turned out.  (Look at my short, stubby toes!)

Here is Laken's mani for the week.  Done by Me.

It is a clear glitter polish called "Party of Five Glitters".  It is Wet-n-Wild from the Dollar General also.  We're not picky.

She loved her little glitter fingers.

Kaylee didn't get a mani this week.  She was busy playing softball, going to school camp, playing the kindle etc.

So there you have our nails for the week.  What do your's look like?

Mani Monday ~ 4/30/12

hosted by Heather and Heather

This is a new feature that is just starting today.  I love the way Heather describes painting your nails:

"What I want to clarify about this feature is that its not for fashion, its not to be vain, its not because we are spoiled girls who get our nails done. Its for you. Its for you to take time, just a little bit of time out of your day to do something nice for yourself. When I started reading Moorea Seal, I loved her series called Paint Your Love, in polishing her nails she had a reason behind it. My reason is clear, take time for you."
This explains it so well!

Having 2 daughters, painting our nails takes on another meaning.  Quality time.  When I pull out the fingernail polish, a gleam shines in their eyes :)  It is a chance to be creative, have fun and show them that they are also important enough to spend time on.

Even though they can't sit still long enough to let their nail dry completely, it always brings a smile to my face to see them sitting there, hands splayed in front of them blowing on their tiny fingernails.

Girl time:

Kaylee (10) went for the "every-other" look.  She chose the colors shown below:  Bijou Blue (Wet-n-Wild) and Eggplant Frost (Wet-n-Wild).

Laken (5) has to copy everything her big sister does but still maintains her unique-ness.  She went with the "every-other" as Sissy did, but chose Bijou Blue (Wet-n-Wild) and Wall Street (NYC).  Do you see the remains of her Little Mermaid fake-too on her wrist?

And here is mine.  (Yes, my girls got their short, chubby fingers from me:)  I went with Carribean Frost (Wet-n-Wild).  It is actually greener than this picture looks.  I'm trying to break out of my red/burgundy rut.

So, that my friends is my first Mani-Monday.  Although, technically we did them on Friday evening while hubby/daddy was at work.  Total girl-time  :)

( Doug REFUSES to let the girls paint his nails.  Believe me.  They have tried.  In a house full of chicks, he has to draw the line somewhere !)

And because everytime I think of this link-up, it comes to mind:
