This week I'm thankful for:
~To me when school has started back up and we change the calendar to September, it is FALL! However, it hasn't been feeling like it. It has been so hot lately. I'm ready for some nice, cool, Fall weather :)
~As I mentioned above, school has started here. Actually, it has been in session for 2 weeks. Laken started her new school and I think I've been more nervous and worried about it than she has been. She seems to be acclimating well and has even made a few new friends. Here is a First Day of School picture I took of Laken and Dex as they were waiting for the bus to arrive:

~This was Kaylee's first time in 13 years not be getting up and ready for school on the First Day. She graduated in the Spring at 16 years old and will be taking a year off to get her driver's license and really decide what she wants to go to college for. That being said, we went Friday for her to take her Written Permit test. And..... She PASSED! She got every question correct! I'm happy for her to have made this step and yet at the same time I am so nervous! I'm nervous for her to be behind the wheel instead of safely tucked in the back seat! :)
~Laken was invited with the rest of the Cheer Clinic participants to cheer at the first home Varsity football game with the Varsity Cheerleaders. She was so excited! (especially because she got a t-shirt!). Unfortunately, about 5 minutes into the first quarter, it started to lightening and a storm blew in causing the game to be delayed. She was so upset that her very first football game got cut short. To make up for it, we stopped for ice-cream on the way home :)
~I just got back from taking Kaylee for a driving lesson. I'm thankful we survived! :)
What are you thankful for today?

WHOOOO - graduated at 16? How did that happen? That's amazing. Graduating before getting license. That's so mind boggling to me!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on those drives with a permit driver :) haha Its always a little white knuckle experience :)
Congratulations to your daughter for passing that test. I'm glad that all my 3 had driving lessions with instructors. I don't think I could have coped with giving them lessons. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow, lots going on. Well done to Kaylee for passing her written test and I'm sure Laken will be cheering again in now time. Mich x #R2BC
ReplyDeleteI mentally think of Sept. 1 as fall, but I stubbornly hold off putting fall decorations up until the official first day later on. It hasn't felt like fall here, either, but I do see a few laves starting to turn.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Kaylee on passing her Written Permit Test! I was nervous about each of mine learning to drive, but once they got comfortable with it, it was nice that they could transport themselves and even sometimes run errands for me.
I'm sorry Laken's game got rained out! I hope they have a chance to do it again.
Congrats to having a teen driver in the house!! I've survived two and it really isn't too bad, our oldest took from school and our youngest took from private driving school as was cheaper and of course here in NYS they have to do the 3 hour course plus drive 50 hours of darkness with a parent. It's a crazy busy time but so worth it!
ReplyDeleteHopefully your other girl will get to cheer again soon.
Our temps were hot this week too but i don't mind as it sure beats January weather!! Tomorrow I'm hiking in the high peaks where the temps will be in the low 40s when i first start out! Perfect hiking weather!
Enjoy the weekend!
Hurray for surviving the driving lesson and for Kaylee passing so well. With such an excellent score, it is obvious that Kaylee likes to thoroughly prepare. That is a great trait.

What a bummer that a storm interrupted the game and cheers. Good thinking on the ice cream as a "salve."
Lovely photo of Laken and Dex. I hope this week goes as well for them as last week. And I hope you have a great week as well.
Yay to passing her test and to the younger two enjoying being back at school.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your daughter passing the written exam! Hope your other kids school years go well and they build many good memories. Great photo of them. We are already getting yellow leaves here. But I'm sure we will have another bout of hot weather coming.
ReplyDeleteHa! I remember those days of teaching kids to drive! Somehow, we all survived. Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteGraduating at sixteen! It's a good thing to take a 'gap year' and figure out what she wants to do.
I hope you are not getting hammered with rain...
We had a nice cool spell, but now it's hot again. Where is fall? :) Cute kids and I'm glad they are adjusting so well. What an achievement for your older daughter to graduate so young. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
