My teaser for this week is from:
~"Ezra Hilton lay sprawled at the bottom step of the staircase, facedown in a puddle of his own congealed blood. He'd probably broken his long, proud nose when he hit Artisans Alley's carpet-covered concrete floor, Katie Bonner decided. She wondered if McKinlay Mill's funeral director could make Ezra look presentable for a viewing. "
Happy Tuesday!
Well there you go. That is certainly a vivid picture for a beginning. Looks like a good start to a series. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGreat visualizations from those opening lines...and I love that cover, too. Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “LILLIAN BOXFISH TAKES A WALK”
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cozy mystery. I'm in. Here's my link for this week — far from cozy, I'm afraid: http://wp.me/p4DMf0-1t1
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a good read. I've already looked it up on Amazon!
ReplyDeleteI love cozy mysteries. I'm actually reading a few mysteries right now. I just finished Hex on the Beach and next up is Spying in High Heels. They are a lot of fun and I always love the catchy titles. Enjoy your reading!
ReplyDeleteLaura :)
I couldn't help but laugh. Great teaser.

Certainly an interesting caption. I wonder if the rest of the book is as humorous. I may just have to have a look into this one.
ReplyDeleteI liked the intro and cover -- sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteI have this one on my Kindle. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteNow that's how you start a mystery, a body at the beginning! Haha.. Sounds like a good one. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a gruesome description, but then it's a cozy so I get it. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWell that is an opener to grab you by the throat!
ReplyDeleteWell, sounds like someone was kind of uppity around town! I'd keep on reading. Love cozies.

ReplyDeleteYou can read a lot into that opening. I like how the author doesn't say the man is dead directly.
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to read this one! It sounds wonderful!

ReplyDeleteI'm laughing with my hand over my mouth - great beginning.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday Book is Faithful , by Alice Hoffman.
Writers of murder mysteries are told to get to the murder right away. This author sure did that with her opening! I'm wondering if the fall was due to natural causes (probably not!) and can't help but wonder why Katie Bonner seems so detached about the death. LOVE the book's cover. Seems like all cozies must have a cat somewhere!
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
I really enjoyed this one! It was such a fun read. I didn't like the 2nd one quite as much but I have high hopes for the 3rd! I hope you enjoy it!
