Book Description (Goodreads):

Keep your eyes wide open for romance in Lookout, Texas. Noah Jeffers enters town determined to make up for past misdeeds. Reporter Jacqueline Davis is determined to nail her story. Will she uncover Noah’s secret before he can capture her heart? With nowhere else to go, ex-con Carly Payton returns to the Lookout boardinghouse. Garrett Corbett is looking for an upstanding wife, not some jailbird. What will he do when overpowered by Carly’s unassuming appeal? Does love deserve a second look?

My Overall Feeling of the Book:

This was a nice, fun read that finished out the Texas Boardinghouse Brides series very neatly.

I enjoyed that the fact that the main characters were actually introduced as children in the very first book of the series.  It was interesting to read about them all grown up and falling in love themselves.

I also liked reading more about Carly, an out-law who made an appearance in the first book of the series but had served her time in jail and was now facing the difficulties that her past brings.

My Favorite Character:

My favorite character was Noah Jeffers, aka Butch Laird.  He was the town misfit and troublemaker in his youth but comes back to town 10 years later as a temporary preacher.  Nobody recognizes him and he tries to keep it that way, thinking that they wouldn't take him seriously as a preacher otherwise.

My Favorite Scene:

My favorite scene is about pork.  Noah (Butch) grew up raising pigs and can't stand the thought of even eating pork.

My Favorite Sentence/Paragraph:

"Intrigued, Jack watched him.  His brow crinkled, and he leaned down, as if to sniff his food, then glanced up and caught her watching.  Quickly, he cut a bite of meat and shoved it in his mouth.  He chewed it a few times, and she'd have sworn--if she swore--that he turned three shades of white before he all but turned green.  His cheeked puffed out as if he'd belched.  A panicked look engulfed his handsome face as he glanced on direction and then the other.  Suddenly he leap from his chair and rushed out of the room."

It Would Have Been Better If:

I found it a bit far-fetched that after all the time that had passed, Noah (Butch) still held a flame for Jack from childhood.  I also thought that Jack was a bit immature but she does mature as the book unfolds.

I Would Recommend This Book To:

Writers, reporters, preachers, preacher's wives, oldest children, those with large families, those who like books set in Texas, those with certain food aversions.
