Homeschool Preschool

As the school year comes closer and closer, I've begun thinking about what I should do to start teaching my preschooler all that she will need to know before she goes to school in a few years.

I looked at different preschool curriculum and, frankly, I think it is rediculously expensive. I just wanted a guideline with ideas.

As I searched for something to help I came across a blog that has everything I could possibly want. For free!

Our Homeschool Preschool is a great resource. Everything is so well thought out and very detailed. I only have to buy a few supplies and do some prep work.

Just what I wanted. I'm looking forward to teaching my little one and seeing her grow.

  1. Those were some of the most precious years of my life. My baby is a senior in HS, this year.

  2. I think it's great that you are planning some structure for Laken. A lot of moms just buy the newest DVD.

On a side note, I keep thinking about what your mom said at the picnic on Sunday about our kids remembering grandma the way we remembered our grandma's. She's such a wise lady!! :)

  3. I'm really looking forward to some time alone with Laken after school starts.

She loves learning and I think she'll enjoy having "class".

  5. I wish they would have had these kinds of things when my DD was little. I think it is a good idea and she will feel included in the "school" part of everything.

  6. I loved those early years of homeschooling. What a great link resource you shared.

I used "Learning At Home" by Ann Ward. She does Pre-K/Kindergarten, and also has a 1st grade and 2nd grade curriculum.

She does the basics, and also throws in a little History, Science, Health & Manners, Character Development, and stuff like that (she uses library books to supplement). I loved it and so did the kids. I have seen it for as little as $3.00 if you buy it second hand. Just a thought for next year!

I'm glad you linked up today! However, I did not see a link back to my blog with a mention of the MYHSM meme.

I'd appreciate it if you could do that! It's just a courtesy link and also so that your readers can see how the other people who linked to the meme are making their homes sing this week.

There is a link to the instructions on my meme post if you missed them. Thank you and have a great day!

  7. Hello,
If you would like a guide to homepreschooling, you might want to look up my book, "Homepreschool and Beyond." You can learn how to homeschool using the 4R's: Relationship (with God and others), routine, readiness, and reading aloud. We use a literature approach and emphasize art, music, and life experiences as well. All you really need is enthusiasm, some art supplies, and a library card.
Even if you aren't a "social" person and you don't think you'd like to continue homeschooling, I'd still recomend that you look up your local homeschool support group. Most welcome parents of preschoolers. Ours offers field trips for all ages, park play days, meetings for moms/dads, clubs, classes, and lots more.
    Many blessings,
