Make It Monday ~ Springtime in Paris or Sugar Skulls? ~ Apron Tutorial and Giveaway ~ 5/4/15

I found this really pretty fabric at Wal-Mart showing what I think Springtime in Paris would look like.  It is full of really cute vignettes including bistro tables, a park bench, girls, ooh la la!  I thought it would be perfect for an apron.

This tutorial is for a simple full apron using 1 yard of fabric.  First, I took an older apron off my hook in the kitchen, folded it in half and laid it on the fold of the fabric.  I then cut around the edge leaving a 1 inch overhang for the seam.

Next, I cut 4 ~ 2.5" strips from the length.  A rotary cutter is the easiest way to cut these but if you don't have one, scissors work just as well.

You can sit the rest of the fabric aside for some smaller cute projects.

At the sewing machine, I sewed each 2.5" strip in half longwise.  These are for the ties.

After they are all sewn, turn them right side out.  I use a knitting needle to help with this but you can use whatever works for you.  Press each tie with a very hot iron with the seam in the middle as shown below.

Next, hem (fold over twice and sew) one end of the tie.

Now, the body of the apron.  Hem all the way around, tucking in the ties were they go.

And voila!  There you go.  Give it a good press and it is done!  If you have any question on this super quick tutorial, let me know.

This is my oldest daughter modeling the Springtime in Paris apron.  (She doesn't have a very pleasant face on this picture so I cropped it off!)  She's a petite girl but this apron is a one-size fits-all.

Here she is in her choice of fabric.  Sugar Skulls.  She's much happier here!

I made two Springtime in Paris aprons.  One for me.  And one for you!!!  If you are more of Sugar Skull girl, just let me know in your comment and if you win I'll hook you up with one.
