Life Update and Fall 2022 Goals ~ 9/3/2022

I can't believe it has been so long since I've visited and updated the blog!

I started a full-time job on August 8th and have hardly had time to do much at all.  I haven't taken the time to "hobby" at all.  No blogging. sewing, reading or crocheting not to mention anything else other than day-to-day "keeping up" with life.

My work hours for the past month were 10am-6:30pm with a 40 minute commute each way.  So by the time I got home, ate supper, and cleaned up from supper it was time to get ready for bed.  (And I was so glad to sink into that bed!)

I found out this past week (either Wednesday or Thursday) that starting Tuesday, September 6th my hours will be chnage to 8am-4:30pm for the foreseeable future.  This is good news because I can still get Laken off to school and I'll be home just a little after 5pm!

I'm hoping to get back into a more normal routine and maybe even make some Fall Goals to mix into that routine.

Some of my Fall 2022 Goals include:

~Settle into a routine
~Daily Devotion time
~Exercise 3-4 X per week
~Intermittent Fast (with eating window of 10am-6pm)
~Craft at least 1 hour per week
~Read 1 book per month
~Blog at least 1 X per week

I'm not going to stress myself out by trying to squeeze too much into my limited "free time" but I would like to have a more well-rounded life.  I'm also going to give myself grace and be flexible with my goals.

That being said, is there anything in particular that you would like to see here on Colletta's Kitchen Sink?

I'd love to know what you think I should prioritize in my free-time.  Any suggestions?

Until next time...

Colletta

 In Life

Things have been going at such a fast pace in life that it makes no wonder that I got sick this weekend.  I stayed in bed most of the weekend and didn't even make it to Church Sunday morning!  That doesn't happen very often.

I love watching Laken play Volleyball, but I'll be glad when the season is over so we can have some quiet evenings again.  I'm kinda glad that she isn't playing a Winter sport and Softball in the Spring is up in the air.  She's not sure if she wants to play or not.  I told her that she has lots of time to think about it so we'll see.

Kaylee is busy, busy, busy with College and homework.  October 14th and 15th is her Fall Break which I think she's looking forward to.  Then it will be time to decide what she wants to major in so lots of decisions coming soon.

The hubby was working lots of overtime but he actually got the whole weekend off!  I'm not sure what his schedule looks like for this week.  He got a new position at work and is probably going to have to go back to swing shift.  He's been working solid third shift for about a year now so that will be an adjustment.

I have been working on my Etsy shop.  If you'd like to visit the link is www.etsy.com/collettakay !

Now:

Onto the books!

What I Read Last Week:

I finished nothing last week and got very little reading squeezed in.  I am hoping to MAKE the time to read this week!

What I'm Reading Now:

The book that I did start reading is "Gunpowder Tea".  It has been interesting so far but I just need more time!

What's Up Next?:

I'm really looking forward to reading "Dead Drift" by Dani Pettrey!

 In Life

 Life busy again this week.

Laken's Volleyball has kept us hopping.  She has 3 games this week, tonight's being the annual Pink Out Game to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.

Kaylee has been very busy with College work.  I don't remember having so much homework when I was in College.  And so much of it is done on the computer and I'm not even talking about online classes.  She's taking 5 classes this semester.  I just hope she can keep up.  She is doing well so far!

The hubby and I had our 19th Anniversary on September 17th.  I can't believe it has been 19 years since we said "I do"!  I got married when I was 22, so I've been married almost half of my life.  CRAZY!!!

Now:

Onto the books!

What I Read Last Week:

I had a couple starts and stops with a few books, but I didn't finish any this week :(

What I'm Reading Now:

I started reading this book and it has promise.  Hopefully, I'll stick with this one :)

What's Up Next?:

Next will probably be "Gunpowder Tea" by Margaret Brownley.  I've read the other books in the series and this, the 3rd book, looks like a lot of fun!

 In Life

Life has been pretty busy lately.

Laken has had either volleyball games or practice every day this past week including a day-long tournament on Saturday.  It was so much fun watching these young 7th graders learning the game of volleyball.  I love to watch as they mature.

Sunday afternoon was Youth Day at Church.  From 1pm to 5pm was all about bouncy house, waterslide and games.  We were worried that it wouldn't warm up enough for the waterslide (it was huge) but the day couldn't have been any nicer.  We had perfect weather!

Now:

Onto the books!

What I Read Last Week:

This was the first book I've read by this author but it will NOT be my last.  It was AMAZING!  The review for this book will post Tuesday!

What I'm Reading Now:

I like to alternate historical and contemporary reads.  Historical will be up next with a continuation of the Westward Wind Series.

What's Up Next?:

Up next will probably be a book I featured on "Books from the Backlog" a few weeks ago.  "By Your Side" by Candace Calvert is the first book in the Crisis Team Series.

 In Life

Saturday our family celebrated the wedding of my cousin, Brian, and his gorgeous bride, Rachel!  Brian and Rachel's wedding was absolutely beautiful and the reception was a blast!  Just what our family needed.  We needed a joyous occasion after all the heartbreak of the Summer.  It was a great way to usher in the new season :)

I took Laken to a new hairstylist and had 5-6 inches cut from her hair.  It was so long that morning were getting to be a struggle just to get the brush through her hair.  Corinne (our new stylist) did a wonderful job and even took the time to straighten Laken's hair.  I can't wait for my appt!  I made it for September 26th to have a bit more growth for her to work with but I don't know if I can stand my shagginess that long!  I may move my appt. up to this week.

Kaylee completed her 3rd week of college and is now considering a new focus on Accounting.  She is REALLY enjoying her Business Accounting class and is thinking of switching her major from Business Management to Business Accounting.  I'm glad she is discovering this interest early in her college career and not waiting for a few semesters and needless classes to pass by.

I'm counting down the days to mine and the hubby's 19th Anniversary on the 17th of this month!  I'm as much in love with him as I was 19 years ago and can't wait for our date night!

Now:

Onto the books!

What I Read Last Week:

This was the first book in the Westward Winds Series by Amanda Cabot.  The review for this book will post Tuesday!

What I'm Reading Now:

I like to alternate historical and contemporary reads.

What's Up Next?:

The next book in the Westward Winds Series by Amanda Cabot is "Waiting for Spring".  I look forward to reading more of Charlotte's story.

 In Life

Life has been hard this week.

We buried my Uncle John on Saturday afternoon :(  It was sad and emotional and I pretty much took to my bed afterward with a headache from crying.  Toward bedtime, after the Advil kicked in, I debated picking up my book but just didn't feel "in the mood" to read.  I just crawled under the covers instead.

I was so glad to turn the calendar to September.  A brand new month to anticipate good things!  Like the Fall Into Reading Challenge and the September 3% Challenge that I've joined in WW Challenge Squad Facebook group.

Many prayers are going out to those who are in the path of Hurricane Dorian including some of my family who live in Daytona Beach, FL!  Stay safe, everyone!

Onto the books!

What I Read Last Week:

The review for this book will post Tuesday!

What I'm Reading Now:

I was in the mood for a western so I picked this book off my TBR shelf.

What's Up Next?:

I picked this book up at Ollie's for $1.99!  It sounds amazing!
