First Lines Friday, 56 and BBH ~ 5/15/20

Today's "First Lines" and "56" are from:

First Lines

Giulia stood in the center of the lane and watched the carriage bound away down the pocked road, jarring the passengers seated on top of the swaying conveyance.

"Fetch Robert?"  Jack looked incredulous.  "You want me to fetch an earl?"

 Q.  As a book blogger yourself, what was the last book you read as a result of a fellow blogger's post? (submitted by Flora @ Flora's Musings...)

 A.  This is a really good question.  I love reading reviews of favorite genres and then putting those books on my wish list.  However, I can't say for certain what the last book I read as a result of a fellow blogger's post was.  Maybe "Knox" by Susan May Warren as I was seeing the reviews for the "Montana Marshalls" series everywhere and they sounded really good.

  2. My first lines are from The Lost Lieutenant by Erica Vetsch:

“You’ll do as you’re told if you know what’s good for you. I won’t be humiliated again.”

    Just finished this phenomenal book!

  8. Happy Friday! πŸ™‚
On my blog I'm sharing from Until the Mountains Fall by Connilyn Cossette. I'm currently on chapter 20, so I'll share from there.
"My family and Hakim's family, along with Baz and his wife and daughters, were gathered around the long table in the courtyard, oil lamps flickering joyfully along its length."
Hope you have a great weekend filled with awesome reading time. πŸ˜€❤πŸ“š

  9. Happy Friday! My first line is from "More Than Friends" by Autumn Macarthur:

"Catriona Maclean returned the phone to its niche, slumped onto the worn oak bench in the entrance hall of the manse, and groaned out loud. She needed a man."

  10. Happy Friday! Today, I'm sharing the first line from Secrets of the Pastor's Wife by Christina Ryan Claypool: "When Cassandra Martin first moved to Maple Grove, the silence in the middle of the night seemed eerie."

  11. Hmmmm . . . can't tell much from those snippets, although I like the part about fetching an Earl. I admit, though, that I am bugged by book covers with ladies in fancy dresses with no faces, either because you see the back of their head or their head are cropped off in the picture. It is a style of book cover that makes me batty.
