First Lines Friday, 56 and BBH ~ 5/1/20

https://hoardingbooksblog.wordpress.com/

I'm still reading "Love at Any Cost" but the lines are new :)

Today's "First Lines" and "56" are from:

First Lines

"Why did I agree to dance with you?" she repeated, her voice as wispy as the gauzy pale-yellow bodice that rose and feel with every breath she took.

 Page 56

She paused to test her soup, nose in a scrunch.  After all, everybody needed prayer, even a skunk.

    Julie Lessman's writing sounds lovely.

On my blog this week, I'm sharing the first line from Becky Wade's Stay With Me:

"The hallway floor jolts downward beneath my feet, throwing me off balance."

    Have a great weekend :)

  5. For some reason I had to stop and look at that cover and then the hat, more specifically, and that got me thinking about how hard those hats must be to wear (knocking into things, catching the wind, how it is attached to the head. Then I remembered the part of Hello Dolly in the hat shop...my brain wandered. Have a great weekend. Stay safe and virus free. My Friday quotes

December 1943- Camp Davis, North Carolina
“Bad weather. Bad plane. Bad day. And I have a bad feeling.”

Today on my blog I’m sharing the first line from Unveiling the Past by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I’m currently reading Masquerade at Middlecrest Abbey by Abigail Wilson. It’s awesome!!! I’ll share a line from chapter 3 here.
“As with so many previous events in my life, my marriage proved the complete opposite of my dreams.”
Isn’t that a fantastic line? The novel is filled with lines like this. So good!
    Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚πŸ’šπŸ“š

  9. Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I shared the first line from Hadley Beckett's Next Dish by Bethany Turner, but it's also my current read so I'll share the first line from where I'm at right now (chapter 18) here: "What was I thinking? What was I thinking? What was I thinking?" I'm loving the witty humor all throughout this one.
    Happy reading!

  10. The opening line of Pride and Prejudice must be one of the most iconic ones ever written!

  13. The quotes got my interest, especially the beginning. I'm wonder what's going on in that scene.
