Each Sunday, I'll be joining in with the Little Bird Knits’ 2013 Crochet Along!
We will be completing one granny square a week for 48 weeks. The last weeks of the year will be used to join the squares and create the blanket border. Each square will be 6 inches by 6 inches. We will start with easy granny squares and move to harder ones as the year progresses. New blocks will be posted Sunday afternoons.

My daughter, Kaylee, helped me pick the colors to use for this project. I had decided to use 4 colors (all Red Heart Super Saver): Lemon, Turqua, Pretty 'N Pink and Spring Green.
She liked this color combination because it looks "Springy". I agree! I'm starting it in the Winter and will be finishing it next Winter, so I'll be ready for Spring each time :)
I had some catching up to do but luckily it didn't take very long to make the first 4 Granny Squares.
Square 2: Mitered Granny
Square 3: Solid Granny w/ Applique
Square 4: Circle in a Square Granny
Each square measures approximately 6" X 6". They haven't been blocked. I've just smoothed them out by hand.
I'm trying to pick the color arrangements randomly for each block but that is really hard for me to do. I think I'm going to have to stop looking at the previous blocks before-hand and just pick the colors for the current block as I go.
Block #5 should be posted this afternoon. I'll share mine with you next Sunday :)
Go, Granny, Go!
I just had a whole box of yarn given to me, and I have been wanting to make like a scrap blanket of granny squares. I think I am going to try this as well!! I have ever only made a basic granny so hopefully I can figure them out!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be a very pretty afghan. Love the project and will enjoy watching it progress.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think it is going to be fun :)
