Blogging Challenge ~ Books in a Time Capsule ~ 9/15/2021

This week's topic is:

Books to Include in a Time Capsule and Why?:

How do I pick!?!?

1.  The Bible,
because the way this world is headed it is going to be needed!

2.  Jane Austen...anything by Jane Austen,
because they are classics and timeless :)

3.  Little Women by Louisa May Alcott,
because it too is timeless!

There are so many good books but I think those are the main ones I'd include in a time capsule.

So, what books would you include in a time capsule?

 1.What makes a house a home?

The people that live there :)

I struggle with certain areas.  I recently found "The Secret Slob" on youtube and she's amazing!

3.Are plants important in your home.. or collections.. or wall art?  Is there a theme you like to create?

I don't have plants because of children and animals.  I collect yarn :)

4.What is a typical day/evening like in your home?

A typical evening is supper as a family, clean up and then some down time relaxing.

Songs on Sunday ~ Rebel by Sanctus Real

The thought of being a rebel as a good thing is a bit different for our society.  However, what about being a rebel for Jesus?  In this day and age, standing for Jesus does seem a bit rebellious.

So, I say:   "Be A Rebel"

Enjoy!

My Weekly Bookishness ~ 9/10/2021

All things bookish!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What I Read:
I started reading "The Clutter Connection" but I'm going to put a bookmark in it for now until I'm able to really dig into it and do some work.
~~~~~~~~~~

What I'm Reading:

Blurb:

Falling in love with Daisy was easy for Jack. But finding the courage to tell her becomes problematic when his secret feelings lead to even bigger complications.

After two years of counseling sessions with Daisy Pendleton, Pastor Jack McReady has earned a permanent spot in her life as a spiritual leader—and nothing more. Jack would never risk losing her trust by exposing the depths of his heart, but he’s hopelessly in love with her.

Daisy loves her southern small-town life and her job at her family-run flower shop, but she doesn’t have the thing she longs for most: someone to share it with. Her recent foray into online dating has been a disaster—until she meets TJ.

Jack could kill his friend Noah for using his initials and some indistinct photos to set up a profile on the dating app Daisy is using. But when he’s finally afforded the opportunity to show her a different side of himself, he’s sucked into the plan before he has time for second thoughts.

Online, Daisy shares some of her greatest fears with TJ, but in person, Jack and Daisy are spending more time together. When a devastating family secret surfaces, Daisy knows that only her trusted friend and counselor can bring her comfort. Jack wants nothing more than to be both men for Daisy, but revealing his secret will prove to be the ultimate test of Daisy’s grace.

First Lines:

Jack McReady had fallen in love with Daisy in one-hour increments.  How many men could claim that?

56%/Page 56

There was a hopeless look shadowing her eyes, and sadness tugged at the corners of her lips.

~~~~~~~~~~~
What I'll (Probably) Read Next:
Blurb:
Nothing could get her home…but this.
Cassidy Leblanc worked hard to shake off her tragic childhood. As a foster child with a mother in prison for murder, she was an outcast in her small New Hampshire town until she met James. But she and James’s sister, whom she was babysitting, were kidnapped. She escaped, but Hallie didn’t survive, and everybody assumed Cassidy killed her. Like mother, like daughter, after all. With public opinion and the authorities united against her, young Cassidy fled. Now, a decade later, another little girl has been kidnapped, and Cassidy may be the only person who can find her.
He doesn’t know who to trust.
James Sullivan never believed that Cassidy killed his sister, no matter what the authorities said. When his best friend’s daughter goes missing a decade after Hallie's murder, James keeps his opinions on the matter to himself. But when he finds Cassidy sneaking around his property, his thoughts turn dark. If she’s not behind the recent kidnapping, what is she doing back in Coventry? Her answer—that she’s returned to find little Ella, and she needs his help—has him reeling. Can he trust Cassidy, despite what the police tell him? If there’s any chance he can save Ella, he has to try.
Danger lurks on the mountain.
Together, they search for the elusive cave where Cassidy and Hallie were taken, but somebody will stop at nothing to make sure they don’t find it or, if they do, that they don’t come out alive.
Book Blogger Hop:
Q.  Are you more likely to choose to read a book based on the synopsis, or the cover? (submitted by Julie @ JadeSky)
A. While the cover may draw me in, it is the synopsis that will determine whether I read a book or not.
The Good Stuff ~ Painting Party ~ 9/9/2021
~~~~~~~~

Have you ever gone to a "Painting Party"?  Not the kind where you go help a friend makeover a room, but the kind where you actually paint a picture?  I can now say that I have!

I had never...in my life...painted on canvas until Tuesday evening.  My beautiful SIL, Kelly, invited me out to a night of painting and drinking...Diet Pepsi for us... at Buffalo Wild Wings :)  Kelly is, of course, the blonde haired beauty.

We had the choice of 3 paintings to create.  The elephant looked WAY too complicated and the middle picture, while beautiful, intimidated us with all those "happy little trees".  Therefore, we decided to paint the dolphin painting.  I think we were the only 2 painters that evening doing the dolphin painting, actually.

I was worried about trying to create the dolphins, but thankfully the host already had the dolphins sketched on the canvas.  This was my starting point.

Here is my paint palette :)

Look at that face :)

Almost finished...

And...viola!  My finished painting!

I really would love to know if you've ever attended a painting party.  What did you paint?  Did you enjoy yourself?  Do you have a picture you could share...I want to see!?!

W
hat has you thankful/smiling/exited this week?  Tell me all the good stuff!

Blogging Challenge ~ Recharging ~ 9/8/2021

This week's topic is:

What I Do To Recharge:

I've recently married one daughter off and got another daughter started into High School.  I've need quite a bit of recharging lately.

So, what do I do to recharge?

I nap.

I've always enjoyed a good nap.  I've never been one to fight it, even as a child :)

I also recharge by reading, swinging on my porch swing, crocheting, blogging or watching a favorite movie.

So, what do you do to recharge?

Tuesday 4 ~ The Wild West ~ 9/7/2021

https://mytuesday4meme.blogspot.com/

Head over to Tuesday's Place for the questions and to visit everyone's answers!

Let's talk about The Wild West!

1. Do you have a favorite TV western you enjoyed? Tell us about it.

I remember really liking the "Young Riders" about, well, young riders who rode for the Pony Express.

2. Lots of western movies... which was one you enjoyed?

I think one of my favorites was "Young Guns 1, 2, and 3".  Ohhh...also "Maverick" with Mel Gibson and Charles Gardner!

3. John Wayne was in many westerns and had many fans. What actor is your favorite?

John Wayne does come to mind as a favorite actor in westerns.  I especially like "McClintock" with Maureen O'Hara and also "North to Alaska".

4. You are going to have to move to a western state that has cowboys! Which state will you choose and why?

I have no idea!  I'm pretty satisfied with my place in the world with my very own redneck :)

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20

Book Club ~ #1 ~ SEPTEMBER 2021

I'd like to start hosting a monthly Book Club here on Colletta's Kitchen Sink.

The idea is that we each read books from our shelf, write reviews and then share them here with the Book Club.

So, no need to buy new books that may or may not interest you.  Read what you already have (or go buy a new book), write a review and share as many reviews as you want here whenever you get a chance!  All month long!  You might even be featured next month :)

Now for SEPTEMBER 2021's Book Club:

 The "rules":

~Must be family friendly.
~Mingle and check out each other's reviews.

That is it!

For now, until I see how much interest there is in having a Book Club, please leave a comment including a direct link to your review.  If we have enough interest, I'll look into a "linky" option.

I hope you'll join me and let your friends know about the Book Club!

She now shares her favorite organizing tips, tricks and secrets in order to help others declutter their way to happiness. Cassandra’s debut book, Real Life Organizing has been inspiring families from all over the world to get control of their clutter and fall in love with their home all over again.

My Thoughts:
I've been watching "Hot Mess House" with Cassandra Aarssen on HGTV.  I saw that she had written a few books, so I downloaded them with Kindle Unlimited.

It was a good read but a lot of what was covered in the book was also covered on the TV show.

I also wasn't able to fully utilize the book because it is a workbook.  Although it has a ton of wonderful printouts and worksheets and labels and tricks and tips, I couldn't access them because it was a ebook borrowed from Kindle.

I would suggest this book to readers but I also suggest buying the actual physical book if you want to get the most out of it.

How about you?  Have you watched "Hot Mess House"?  Do you need some help decluttering like I do?   :)

Onto the next book!
